Ollie's Pretty Bird comes to Smallville

    From Kryptonisite:

    Episode #7-11: "Siren"
    Air Date: January 2008
Guest Stars: Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow)

    - UPDATED 10/23/07: The Black Canary appears in this episode (hence, the "Siren"), and yes, Oliver Queen is back too.

    - UPDATED 10/18/07: This is looking more and more like it will be the "return of the Green Arrow" episode, though we still cannot confirm anything. (UPDATED: See Oct. 23 news)

    - UPDATED 10/11/07: Smallville creator Al Gough tells TV Guide that Chloe will be "in quasi-Watchtower mode around Episode 11."
"You'll discover that she is still doing odd jobs for Oliver and the gang on the side," Gough says.

I really like the concept of Smallville becoming a Justice league Origins type show. Its nice to see DC giving the writers more freedom with their stable of characters. They've certainly earned it.

Sounds GREAT! This season is already off to a good start! With Green Arrow coming back...only makes sense to bring in the Black Canary.

More eye candy and another reason to keep watching the show. I was actually suprised by Lana in tonight's episode.

"Dark Side" Lana is actually interesting.

Okay, I wonder if they'll ever touch on the "is she the REAL Lana, or the clone" thing.

                The clone never was alive,
Lex had to get the DNA from the phantom that turned into Bizzaro so she could not live at all.

Smallville is generally so well executed that it is hard to believe sometimes that the BoP TV show came from the same producers. It seems everything they did right with Smallville, such as creating a credible world for the super-powered Clark to live in and allowing the character interactions to drive the story were forgotten when they did BoP. I seem to recall that BoP's original episode drew in quite a huge audience when it debuted only to bleed viewers every week.

I thought they had perfectly cast Barbara Gorden in the form of Dina Meyer.

I didn't mind that they had reimagined Dinah/Black Canary as a teenager, but I'm not sure the psychic powers ever really worked within the context of the show. I was deleriously happy when they brought in her mother as "the original" Black Canaray with the sonic scream.

I didn't much care for the way Huntress was handled either.

Well, yeah, that's what they say now. But who knows, it's a back door out to explain "evil Lana". I hope they don't go there. Real Lana being tainted by her marriage to Lex is a much more interesting, less hoaky concept.

I think the character of the Huntress killed that show. The actress wasn't quite strong enough to pull it off, and the character was written haphazardly. At the beginning of every episode she was portrayed as half-crazy, stubborn loner. Then she'd learn her lesson somewhat by episode's end. Then the next episode, she'd be right back to square one.

Dina Myer was pitch-perfect as Babs. Lori Laughlin made a great older BC too, in that one episode. Sigh.

Another thing that doomed Birds of Prey was trying to merge too many mythos into one story. Never seemed to balance right,at least I thought so.
