I recall an interview after 4 Chris said there wouldn't be a 5 becuase Superman is supposed to be perpetually 35 and he was fet he was looking too old to pull it off

Curt Swan drew an older Superman in the 60s. He even seemed to have a slightly receding hairline, like he really had been at it for 20 years. In the 70s DC told him to draw him younger, and that Superman was never to be over 28. Whatever.

The main reasons I grew up equating my dad to Superman were his physique, the fact that he came from a foreign land that had blown up and the way Curt Swan drew him like he was in his mid 30s.

I don't like being older than Superman so it suits me just fine to see him being played by someone in my age range.

If this Clown becomes Superman...then I won't be seeing the new Movie. I wouldn't even mind seeing Brandon Routh back.

To be honest, I dont think we're ever going to see another successful Superman movie.

The motion picture climate and filmaking STYLE of today just don't fit in with the legend of Superman.

Superman is NOT Batman and he shouldn't be treated like him.

Until filmakers realize this we're going to get the same crap we've seen in Returns.

I don't think Jon Hamm is right to play Superman. There's something too enigmatic and urbane about him. (Bruce Wayne would be a different matter.) To me, a good Superman is 80% Gary Cooper and 20% Cary Grant. (Or, you know, 100% Christopher Reeve. ) He has to be "alpha male" tall and handsome -- with that kind of confidence and presence -- but without the typical "alpha male personality". That's a very rare quality and most Hollywood actors don't have it. (Aside from Cooper and Reeve, Gregory Peck is the only other one who springs to mind.)

It has to be someone the audience can have a strong emotional connection to. Christopher Reeve's Superman is the kind of Superman I'd want to be on my best behavior around, not because he's intimidating, but because there's something inspiring about him. He's the kind of Superman who's respect you'd want to earn. By comparison, Jon Hamm looks like he beat up people in high school and smells like a fat issue of GQ. Who cares what Jon Hamm thinks about you.

Whoever they decide to go with though, I'll just be thankful it isn't Nicolas Cage in a black body suit.

Well, you just took Tom Welling out of the picture too...because he sure doesn't fit the image that you just described either...

Couldn't disagree more...but you knew that was coming. Just like I knew you'd throw in your usual Tom welling slam.

Wasn't Keanu Reeves considered for the part at one time or was it Josh Hartnett?
