George Reeve was terrific, and I would welcome a revival of sorts with a similar actor. I do not want to see a bumbling Clark Kent or a pussified, over-emotive Supes. I want a competent Kent and a commanding, authoritative Superman. Only someone in the 35-40 range could convincingly pull that off.
I've heard many rumors of John Hamm of Mad Men. Really don't know much about him. I just have a vision of Superman that is difficult to acheive in film. Just go ahead and cast the role and get this thing going already. 2012 could be DC's year with Superman, Batman and possibly Flash.
ScottI almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

I absolutely love the idea of an older Jon Hamm Superman. I hope the older actor rumor is true, cause Jon could be a lock for the role.

It had to be for simplicity of continuity. remember that they were shooting 1 and 2 together and all the effects shots were done well apart from dialog only closeups. A wig allows the effect shot to be seamless (think of how jarring it is when they cut to a wide shot and the stunt double's hair is longer than the actor they doubleComment

An older superman would be good at least they would know the character more than a younger guy would know. A lot of younger people just don't know about stuff, the other night one of them said "Who is Richard Pryor?"

I like the idea of and older Superman. George Reeves was about 37 when he first filmed Superman and the Mole Men. Superman always seemed to be in his 30's to me.Comment

Eew, kind of spoils his Man of Steel image, just a bit.Comment

^Yeah, but if the poor guy couldn't help it, I can see using a wig, especially with all the screen time he has in those movies. With the effects work he did, Reeve spent countless hours in those flying rigs. So re-doing his hair every 5 minutes probably wasn't an option to begin with.

True but at the beginning they didn't know they would sack Donner when they started ....and we weren't supposed to believe Lois could flyComment
