David E. Kelly Wonder Woman Project

I don't know enough about David E. Kelly to have an opinion on this, but apparently the move is afoot to give Wonder Woman a new TV series.

Any opinions?

This has to be the highest-profile effort to bring Wonder Woman to television: One of TV's best-known creators, The Practice's David E. Kelley, has come on board to write and produce a new series project about the female superhero.

Supposedly he's interested in the Golden Age WW2 version....Whatever they decide I hope they stay close to the classic costume instead of the Jim Lee "leggings" re-design.....

David E. Kelley's profile seems to have dropped the last couple of years...I don't think he's as prolific or successful of a producer as he once was....

David E. Kelly, who wrote/produced: L.A. Law, Doogie Howser, M.D., Picket Fences, Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope, Boston Public, The Practice/Boston Legal, Girls Club, Life on Mars,(American version).

This could be very good. If it's anything like his previous dramas and he keeps the character in-costume, it might serve as the new template to do TV superhero shows, (they can chuck the Smallville template in the trash). One must wonder if he is going to concentrate too much on sex in Wonder Woman's life. Some of his shows went on that tangent and got lost in it.

I'll assume, until I see it, that he wouldn't write it like a Boston Legal or Ally McBeal episode. Remember if he has been "typecast" as the writer/producer who has only "this" style of show, he might be trying to reinvent himself.

Looks like the David E. Kelley planned Wonder Woman tv series is “not moving forward”, reports Entertainment Weekly. Apparently, their sources told them that all the major broadcasters have passed on the project. NBC was the final network that declined to bring back the super heroine. Of course, Warner Bros. TV has said they are not giving up on this, but it is definitely on hold.

Outside of her appearing on DC animated’s Justice League franchise, Wonder Woman has not appeared in live action since the 1976-1979 series starring Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and Steve Trevor, respectively.
