Aquaman Question for the Aquaman Expert

Since I'll be picking up the complete Aquaman series by Filmation tomorrow, a question comes to mind since I never followed the comics all that well. Villain wise, I am familiar with
Black Manta and the Fisherman, but were any of the other villains that appeared in the cartoon exist in the comic? Villains like the Brain, Queen Vassa, Nepto, and the Sea Scamp. Did any of them exist in the comics at one time or another?
I was just curious.

I'm not the Aquaman "expert" (not too shabby though) but to my knowledge besides Manta and the Fisherman the others you listed were Filmation creations...

Aquaman really needs to beef up his Rogues Gallery. They do often say that a hero is only as good as his Villians, and while Ocean Master is compelling as his half brother, the politics of Black Manta are a bit awkward in this day and age. I don't even know what The Fisherman's deal is.

Aquaman had the greatest Line up!!! There was Waterman,Goldfish boy,Gill Girl,The Aqua Brats,The Evil Ted Tuna,Octopuss,Starfish Gal,Mr.Fish and Mr.Chips.....The Squid, RocK Lobster, Halibooty,Lady BlowFish,SharkTooth,LongJohn blowhard,Mr.Fishsticks and least we not forget the Sponge Bob versus Aquaman giantsize annual The list is endless...AquaMan Rules! What you never heard of these? lol!

The Fisherman is just a thief I think! Same with another Aquaman foe The Scavenger.

Ya know I remember in some old JLA stories they created some "old foes" of Aquaman for one-shot appearances...they were never heard from again: Cutlass Charlie (lame!) and The Sea Thief. Every other member of the JLA actually had foes from their own real Rogues Gallery to fight in these stories but not poor ol' Artie!

I forgot about Quisp! Aquaman's answer to Mxy/Batmite/Larry the Titan.

Given his humble beginnings, it's fascinating how big of a player he's become thanks to Grant Morrison's JLA and his recent appearance in Geoff Johns' JSA.

here i am!

anyway, i'm watching the DVDs right now, and as far as i can remember, none of the villains other than Manta, the Fisherman, and the Trio of Terror(3 kinda-robot guys) were from, or later appeared in, the comic. i always wondered why they didnt use Ocean Master, and Quisp seemed perfect for an animated treatment.

the documentary is fun, if too brief(hell, a three hour long doc would be too brief for me!)
