I've had an odd interest in Atlas ever since I got a copy of Jeff Rovin's Encyclopedia of Super Heroes in the mid 80s. Depsite Atlas' short run, the book is chock full of info on the line. I later learned this was because Jeff Rovin was one of the main editors of the line.

Yeah the back story on Atlas is very interesting...I think one of the Twomorrows magazines did a nice job covering it....
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!
The first two issues of Pheonix are really good. Not the usual spandex hero stuff. To bad everything after was so uninspired. I also have the first issue of Destructor. That was the usual spandex hero story, but you can't go wrong with Ditko & Wood!
I liked The Grim Ghost series the first go round...about a reincarnated Highwayman. The Cougar was ok too, a stuntman that met & fought vampires & werewoves, based I guess loosely on The Night Stalker.
Didn't Rich Buckler transport his Atlas Demon Hunter whole cloth over into the Marvel Universe as Devil Slayer? Ditto Chaykin's Scorpion who became Dominic Fortune.
Funny thing; Atlas came about the first time the 70's happened.... Image in the 90's, which were the second 70's.... and nw that it's the 70's yet again someone's bringing back Atlas proper. Weird.
It is kind of interesting how familial history plays into all of this. Martin Goodman sells his company, and his son Chip Goodman is ousted from Marvel by cousin Stan Lee. In turn Martin hires his other nephew Larry Lieber (Stan's brother) to edit Atlas titles.
