The Music of DC Comics 75th Anniversary Compilation CD!!

For those who may or may not know it, Warner Bros and DC Comics have announced something I never thought would ever happen. They will release a music compilation of various themes from movies, TV series, and animated series of the DC Comics Super Heroes.

This was actually announced earlier this summer with plans to release it in July, but then they bumped it to October. But now, the official word is the release will be September 28. I don't know if it's online only or if it will be in stores.

I recall seeing a track list earlier this summer, but it looks like it's changed. There are 31 tracks and it looks like they've changed out a tune or two. But here is the listing:

I saw a list earlier that was different. Originally, the Batman cartoon theme by Filmation listed was the New Adventures of Batman from 1977. I don't understand why they changed it out, the theme to that series was far better. Also, they had the 2001 theme of the Justice League, but changed it out as well.

I'm actually surprised that they did not include the theme to Superman: The Animated Series or the theme to the live action Flash TV series.

Either way though, I am definitely getting this collection when it comes out.

one possible reason for noy including the TV flash is rights. DC used variaitions of the Danny Elfman theme for batman the animated series and later movies (so either they had an extended use of the the theme or extended the rights) but the Elfman theme for flash was a one and done and they may have let rights lapse (or the rights may be held by Bilson and Demeo as the producers of the show).

or they fear overload of the Elfman sound hence why they also excluded the Batman the animated series theme

Shame they've taken the 2001 Justic League them off, that's a corker! Will still pick one up though; I hope they're all original themes and not re-recordings.

The lack of BTAS and Flash themes may have to do with recent CD releases from both of those shows.

I still wish they had the New Adventures of Batman theme on the track since it was listed at one time. I can only guess the reason for the change out is because the 1968 series is more connected with the other Filmation DC toons.

Someday, I'd like to see that theme on a compilation of either a complete Batman theme set or maybe a compilation of themes of Filmation shows.
