    The New Thor

I'm still waiting for the trade to come out before reading it, but I'm just wondering if anyone has picked up the few issues that have come out of the new Thor and whether it is worth checking out?

Got all 3 and trust me IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY! Go out and hunt this down! The best Thor has been since he was introduced IMO! Straczynski has a way with his stories, Spiderman hasn't been as good as it is now either!

    AND I'M A HULK FAN!

Both Straczynski titles come highly reccomended from me.

The costume we talked about a few months ago. Looks like a disco ball on his arms.

I like it quite a bit. I especially like how Don Blake & Thor relate to the locals. And, it was good to see Iron Man get a swift kick to the arse!
              Hey! Check out the pictures.

So, Don Blake is back in the mix? Cool. I haven't read any Thor since the Deodato run in the 90s, and my favorite run will always be the Simonson 'Ragnarok' era in the 80s.
But what I really appreciate about this character is how you can endlessly retcon his origins, or come up with new secret identities and 'fleshly manifestations'... but the character himself remains true to the original, awesome creation.

Simonson's run is still tops, from the highs of Beta Ray Bill to the lowest points of the run that featured Frog Thor.

Also loved Warrne Ellis' short arc with Deodato, although I think even Ellis himself questioned if he was really in fact working the Deodato himself or a roomful of ghost artists.

Nah, they just gave him a new costume, that's all, I like how Asgard is just floating over Oklahoma 10 feet over Oklahoma, he gives takes the farmer who owns the property into his treasure room and tells him to take whatever's fair and the farmer screams "BACK THE TRUCK UP!"

Issue #3 is something of interrest as well as he visits New Orleans and meets Iron Man in a very unplesant discussion. I like it alot!

I never was a real big Thor fan since he was brought into the Marvel 'verse JUST to keep the Hulk in line, so I always saw him as a threat to my boy, but I do like this comic!

^ I came in on the tale end of that arc (#298-300) but it's definitely a classic!

From that era, as a kid I had a couple of the issues featuring Red Norvell...

Was this the prelude the the Ragnarok arc? I know Baldar "died" a few issues prior.

My gut tells me no, but I'm not too sure.
