    Hmmmm....

So.... does this mean there's gonna be a scene where the Shadow and his sidekick sit around discussing 70's movies?

As much as I like Tarantino, I'd much prefer Sam Raimi directed "The Shadow". (Darkman has always been one of my favorite movies) However, Tarantino has an in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm for various genres (martial arts, 70's expoitation), so he is a good second choice, with Robert Rodriquez and good 3rd. As long as the director stays close to the source material, any of these 3 would do The Shadow justice. While the 1993 version with Alec Baldwin managed to incorporate elements of the various incarnations of The Shadow, its campy sense of humor ruined what could have been a great interpretation. I loved The Shadow's look in the movie, and the opening scene was right on the money. The Shadow should be more serious and darker, the villians he fought were devious fiends who enjoyed murder and mayhem. You can't do The Shadow without showcasing his network of agents (Harry Vincent, Burbank, Claude Fellows, etc.) and supporting cast (Joe Cardona, etc.)

I'd like to see The Shadow actually be able to control darkness or turn into a shadow himself (as is implied in the pulp novels). His ability to "cloud men's minds" for invisibility should expand to a type of "psychic illusion" ...he can reach into the mind of others to make them see what he wants them to (explaining descriptions of him disappearing, having red eyes, transforming from one disguise to the next, etc. as in the books). In the radio show he could even read minds to a limited level, extracting information from a criminal's mind as he questioned him.

Either way, I can't wait to see a new screen version of one of my all-time favorites!

Period film. Keep it old school and noir-ish, plus it'll take Trantino out of his comfort zone a bit.
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT?????

I've never seen this interpretation of The Shadow before! Seriously...really??? That gets my vote for one of the WORST super-heroish costumes of all time!

It can't be any worse than that Alec Baldwin disaster. I remember when my Mom and I heard that was coming out, we were so excited. The Shadow was her fave radio show, and I got a bunch of Shadow radio show tapes in preparation. Man, were we disappointed! The only similarities between the radio show and the movie are the title and the names Lamont Kranston and Margo Lane. (and maybe his costume)

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
