Seriously, i've always thought Agent Phil Coulson played by Clark Gregg in Iron Man 1 & 2 and now Thor looks too wimpy to be a highly trained Shield Agent.

I'm assuming that this was a throwaway character that kind of spiraled out into something more than that given the fact that if they did know he'd be tying together Avengers movies, they might have named him Agent Dugan or Agent Quartermain as an Easter Egg for the fans. -

I think that's the point. He's an unassuming-looking guy. You wouldn't give him a second glance, but he could kill you with a dinner napkin.
In the first Iron Man movie, Tony and Pepper spend the whole movie ignoring him, only to later find out he's with SHIELD.
I like the guy myself. He's a nice thread to tie the movies together. I assume he's going to be in Thor.

I think his part in the first Iron Man was purposeful, he looked kind of like an annoying nebbish and it turns out he's a super agent. If he was a Liefeld esque muscle boy that would have never worked. Personally, I find the character endearing.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

His role in Thor looks quite substantial given the amount of screen-time he gets in the trailer. There is a scene with him Interrogating Thor/Donald Blake, and Coulson and a crowd of SHIELD Agents get taken out by The Destroyer (whom they mistakenly assume to be another unauthorised armoured Iron Man type).Comment
