The one flaw in your theory is that those actors were pretty good. Chris Evans is not.
He sucked as The Human Torch (in two **** movies to boot), and not only was he bad in them, he was the worst part.
And this who Marvel picks to play one of their "A" listers?
Really? No one else was available?
This is why I see Marvel studios going nowhere.
No longer can they blame ANYTHING on Hollywood, this is their ballgame now, and they're whiffing.
The year that they got all the money to do the start-up, what did they do?
Did they start small and just do Iron Man?
No, they came out with 3(!), count em' 3(!), movies for the summer.
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Punisher: War Zone
Couldn't they have been happy just to have one hit for the season?
Did they have to blow their load right out of the gate?
Fast forward to the following summer, what did they have?
Nothing.
The Summer of 2009 had NO Marvel super hero movies, not one.
Maybe if they had waited until 2009, they could have released the Hulk to a stronger audience.
But no, they HAD to get it out there and make sure that it made less money than the Ang Lee POS did, and guess what?
They weren't happy with the numbers and now they don't want to do anymore Hulks.
In addition they also managed to tick off Ed(Hey Ralphie boy!)Norton, and now he doesn't want to play in their sandbox anymore.
So ok guys, no more Hulk (he'll be in The Avengers, though!).
Oh, and guess what? No more Punisher either (he won't be in The Avengers)
What a waste.
Let's also mention the fact that they ****ed off ALOT of the fans off by giving the part of Nick Fury to Sam Jackson.
To me, that was too stupid. Bruce Willis in a wig would have been a thousand times better.
So who sat in this room and thought that was a good idea?
Jon Favarau?
Oh ok, the idiot who played the rich guy on "Friends" and directed one film that made money. That's the guy I'm gonna listen to.
Yeah, you're right, now I'm convinced.
As far as Captain America is concerned (forget about Thor, even New York magazine is getting their shots in) I don't see this thing going anywhere.
Joe Johnston hasn't done anything worth a damn since Rocketeer, and even that wasn't that great. Take out Jennifer Connelly, and it's kind of a snooze fest. Why would you pull him out of the water? Is he the only game in town too?
NEXT!
I don't care in the least, but I hope for the fans sake, "Avengers" is good.
But honestly though, I have to say, I'm sorry, I just don't see it happening.
The one character that I see anyone caring about is Iron Man.
The rest (the way it's going) is garbage, and I think by the time it makes it's way to a theater near you, I can see Marvel filing for chapter 11 once again.
But hey, it looked great on paper right?
Sure, if Jack Kirby or Steve Ditko were on board.
For the record, put your money on Green Lantern. At least DC is playing it tight, and for my money, slow and steady wins the race, always.
Just my 2 cents.I'm sorry, I know you're serious, but that was funny

The lack of Marvel film releases last year was not down to Marvel's inactivity. All the movies slated for 2009 had to be moved to this year and so on because of the writers strike that effected all development for scriptwriters.Comment

I think the disturbing issue about the release of this test footage is why the Studio would even remotely think it was good. Perhaps they needed to see what the initial crowd reaction would be like? I bet the studios heads are nervous as h*ll right now. I always said it was a huge gamble to throw three films, all tied to one another, together over the course of one year. That is nearly three quarters of a billion dollars with a high saturation point when you consider DVD's and product in between. By the time the Avengers gets here, the general public (not the diehards) will be tired of seeing Cap and Thor... if they ever like them to begin with! HUGE gamble here. I just don't get it...Comment

Ech, too much hostility. I'll reserve judgement until I see a trailer and as long as Captain America doesn't break into song in it, I'll likely go to see it.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I liked Chris as Johnny and enjoyed both F4 movies for what there were and nothing more. As for him as Cap I have no problem with him being both characters. And I'll certainly go see it.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment

Evans as Johnny Storm, was the single best part about them Movies, imo. ... Well , Next to the Bra and Pantie Jessica Alba scene ofcourse.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I actually thought his portrayal of Johnny was spot on.
He and Chiklis were the highlight of both movies IMO. I mean, Alba is cute and all but those 2 were the best characters.

I liked Wolverine Secret Origins ..., To Me, it was the Best X-Movie ever. I really didn't care for the rest of them Much, outside of the NightCrawler White House seen ..., perhaps I just read too many X-Men Books.
I also like Chris Evans.
I liked him in the Movie "Push" ..., His character was a bit more serious,... and I can see him as Cap.
But if I had my Wish..., I woulda Picked John Cena as Cap.
To Me, ... He looks like Him.
I think I will like this Movie, myself. ... There's really only ever been a few Comicbook Movies I didn't care for.
I hate Every Batman Movie Costume to Date. ..., Being a "come again, here and there Ultimate reader" ..., All the suit Designs I have seen, do not Bother Me as a Fan..., I'll reserve Final Judgement for the Flick.
The Dr. Strange Toon was good. ...., I bet the Disney Movie will be too.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

For all we know, there might be a "big reveal" at the end where he is in a more Cap-like outfit. I'll wait until more production/trailers have been released. It's all good!Comment
