There is no doubt that Iron Man's in the A-List now

Just paging through the Hasbro previews, I think there are officially more Iron Man action figures and variants in the past few years since the two movies, than Wolverine has had in the last decade or so.

Not even close to the last two decades worth of Batman of course, but it certainly looks like he's giving Spider-man a run for his money these days.

I'm not sure how much stock one can give to "action figure variant" counts when like batman you have 3 entire lines of tweaks on a theme (animated iron man and movie 1 and 2 in the last few years plus the older toy biz animated line). I would say the fact he is sustaining a multi media franchise has certainly moved him up the food chain if not to A list certainly to top of the B list

No he is A list by far. I'm a Elementary School teacher and when you look at what the kids are all doing and wearing you will see the pulse of what's hip. Legos and Iron man are by far waaaaaaaaay ahead of everything else. I have been in the school system for over 10 years and it's hard to believe Iron man in more demand than Superman. Iron man is everywhere!!!

      Spider-man
      Batman
      Superman
      Iron man

      It's a different world today.
If you're a fan of old-school toys, toons and comics then my blog is the place for you!!!

I agree that IM is really hot right now my son is 7 I know how big he is in elem right now but the move to A list (for me anyway) is sustainability. IM has had bumps in popularity before (when the fox animated show was on onm the mid 90's) but nothing as big as these movies have been. If his power stays after the films are done then I agree.
Spiderman batman and superman have decades as top of the heap in recognition and merchandising plus movie and comic sales.

that's movie merchandising marketing, the same was true for Rise of CObra in GIjoe, Superman returns, Speed Racer, Ang Lee Hulk, X men origins wolverine, fantastic four etc

The IM movies are much better than these others (and not much material had to be a clearance blowout after the film) but the level of merchandising was the same.

I will agree that as of today Iron man is probably bigger than wolverine and has always been better at sustaining his comic book than wolvie or the X men
