No announcement yet.
Studio says role of Joker is done. No appearance in Batman 3
Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be a much better Riddler than Johnny Depp.
Levitt has a more "angular" look than Depp.
Levitt is young, has the right looks...and has the acting chops.
Plus he's in Chris Nolan's Inception...the word is that they have quickly became friends.
I predict Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be in the next Batman movie...whether it's going to be as the Riddler...I don't know...but he's going to be there in some role or another.
I just flipped the channels and noticed he is hosting SNL. It is remarkable how much he looks like Heath Ledger.
My original pick before Ledger was announced for the Joker role, which was pretty much flamed, was Ben Stiller. He's got the comedic chops for sure, and I'm pretty sure he could venture into the realm of creepy and psychotic. Just look him in the eyes, they're psycho. I also thought he's make a cool Kraven the Hunter for a future Spider-Man film. I have no doubt nobody agrees, but I think he'd be fantastic in a serious comic movie.

I have faith in Stiller overall...so, I'm there....don't know if that's comnforting,
but I am

That's what they call "casting against type" I guess. It's hard to accept as anything other than a bumbling comedian because that's mostly what he plays.

Williams would be a great Riddler but I think he is too old now. I like Johnny Depp and I think he's a better actor than he realizes but I don't see him in any Batman role. I suspect Leavitt will get to play the Riddler in the next film; or some villain. The rumors are out there already. If you want to see the Joker again you will have to wait a few years till you see another re-boot.
These films by Nolan are some of the most adult Batman films ever made. These are perhaps comparable to the Denny O'Niell/Neil Adams period of the comic. I also think Nolan's approach is too adult. Many Bat-villains cannot be included in a Nolan film because they would not fit in his view of the Batman. Also they way this version of Batman is portrayed he could never be in a Superman film crossover or a Justice League film. No room for that possibility is even being made. It doesn't fit Nolan's view. Excellent films but by the third installment I think it will be a dead end, (pun intended).
They'll have to find someone else to be the Joker sooner or later....
Dang straight.
I understand all the "he can't be replaced" and "move on" sentiments...
there's good "logic" behind those things in many ways...
but...
THE JOKER...the CHARACTER, just flat out RULES
....and if it takes too long to see the Joker in "live action" again,
it'll be one of the biggest mistakes....not only in DCU history...
but in film history overall.
I'd rather see Michael Keaton as an older Frank Miller Dark Knight Batman.
And since the new movies seem to disregard the original 4 Batman movies (Batman 3?? now? ) they should call it Batman V (5)!
