Agreed. Perez has all the chops. Great storytelling, great illustration, a master of detail. All of Perez's faces look like different people. He slowly developed this on Titans. When unmasked, blond-haired Cap, Hawkeye and Hank Pym all look different.

Adams revolutionized comics, but I sometimes think his storytelling is hard to follow. He got a little too wrapped up in page design, at the expense of clarity. His Deadman stuff is a good example of this. Beautiful stuff, but sometimes a bit hard to follow.

I wish O'Neil or any decent writer had collaborated with Adams on this book. The story idea wasn't bad, but it was almost like Adams wrote his pitch down as the story.

He actually has Batman call Robin the Boy Blunder and compounds by having Robin ask, "Did you call me Boy WOnder?" To which Batman replies "No, Boy Blunder." Painful to read but oh so pretty to look at.

I'm sure Adams' terms were that he would get to write the book. But he's really making himself look silly. Kind of like if O'Neil demanded to draw the next Batman story he writes.

Picked the first issue up, a few pages in and it went straight back on the shelf. Adams' art was great to look at in the 60s/70s but now, most of it's an eyesore IMO. He's definately got worse over the years, everything is just too over the top.

It's a shame Marvel can't tempt Steranko back to do a book, now that would be something to talk about.

I'm so disappointed. The writing is awful...and Neal Adams Art was better back in the day. I waited so long to see Neal draw Batman again...and this is what we get??

Is there any additional artwork online? I haven't gone by the comic shop to see it. And it doesn't sound like it's worth the trip in either.

Agreed..very nice to look at, but the writing is clumsy and full of little quips etc. Would have been fantastic to see O' Neil write it...I wonder why that didn't come about, seems like a no-brainer. But then DC upper management is teeming with "no-brains".
Still it could have been worse...I understand that they wanted Frank Miller to write it but he couldn't do it which is why Adams wrote it himself. So at least we were spared any more of that All-Star crapola.

And we do get to see Adams' Man-Bat again...plus Robin gets drawn as the BOY wonder and not some 20 year-old in a halloween suit.

I agree Dane. Adams art was better back in the 70's. I have this same problem with George Perez's art. When they were trying to make a name for themselves they did their very best to make the art as appealing, different and stylish as they could. Now that they've found success they dont have to try as hard and what made the art unique is forgotten. sigh.
Now that's not to say that arnet super artist....but to me they dont give the effort they once had.

Adams Continuity Studios comic were incredibly hard on the eyes. I know Mark Beachum and Mark and Neal would bump heads about the layouts when he was doing Samuree for them. I Like Neal now when he does single Illustrations rather than stories.

I picked it up and was completely lost. I had a hard time following what era I was supposed to be in, etc. And the "boy blunder" type of dialogue was annoying at best.
                            It's all good!

                              Enjoyed the first issue.
Basically picked it up because I'm such a major Neal Adams fan.
Will probably stick with the series for the full 12 issues.

You know, I didn't outright hate it. Some of the dialog "boyblunder" was questionable, but some of it really hit home with me. It did remind of of reading something of his from my youth.
