This is good news. Now I'm think what Marvel characters could be done in "like action" on a TV budget?

Elecktra(John Whedon in charge) with an "actual Greek" Actress.

I'm not overly impressed with this announcement....Just sounds like Marvel trying to one-up DC's announcement of a few months back regarding Geoff Johns new position....

It does seem like just Another " This company did this ..., so now we shall do this" marketing Ploy . ..., However with that thought outta the Way, I actually like Loebs writes, and his Team-up's with McGuinness are always Fun reads for me. ... Hush was the Book that actually Brought me back to Comics , from a 4to5 yr break too. Outside of the X-men Mega 2ND Comming arc, I only read 4 Marvel books right now, and I like Loeb's Hulk alot..., Been there since Day 1, and Loving it.

I'd watch an X-23 TV Show ..., with Summer Glau as 23.

I'd like to see Power Man and Iron Fist,

Not a real fan of Cloak and Dagger, but young metas fighting drug dealers might work. Their powers wouldn't be too hard to do.

I know Marvel would rather make a Daredevil theatrical movie, but I think the character would adapt well to TV. Very street level. Start with the boxing angle from his origin and make the Kingpin the main villain.

Xavier Academy Basically it would be a high school type drama staring a core group of students, but each week a different X-Man would make a guest appearance as a special lecturer at the school.

Winter Soldier might be cool. I would have Bucky be an agent of SHIELD who is leading the hunt for the notorious Russian assassin and special agent the Winter Soldier.

But the twist is that Bucky has been brainwashed and hypnotized into living a double life. He is unaware that he is actually the Winter Soldier (kind of a Tyler Durden thing) and is being controlled by an organization of ex-KGB agents. The Winter Soldier can't be caught because he knows everything SHIELD does. Probably go the whole first season leaving some clues here and there but not reveal until the season finale that Bucky and the Winter Soldier are the same guy for the shock and awe.

Explain the background in Season II

Johns and Loeb share an office in L.A.

Loeb's stuff is hit and miss with me. I liked some of his Superman/Batman stuff. Enjoyed Hush and his run on Superman. Superman for All Seasons was a very good mini series. I prefer it to Morrison's All-Star Superman. His Marvel mini-seria with Tim Sale were really good.

I have to say he lost me with the Hulk stuff the last couple of years. Don't read the Ultimate stuff.

Hope he shepherds some cool stuff to the TV screen. Some of it might wind up on the Disney Channel.

I would watch this show! (as long as it's more like BBC's Jekyll and less like My Own Worst Enemy)

Jeph Loeb Talks Marvel TV - Comic Book Resources

"Marvel waited for the right situation to present itself before getting into live series," he said. "With Disney the opportunity is perfect. Between ABC Studios and ABC Family combined with the networks ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney XD, ESPN – who could ask for anything more? When we look at the best of 'genre' television, the stuff that sticks out for me is what's been driven by the vision of a super talented creator/show runner. Damon Lindelof on 'Lost.' Joss Whedon on 'Buffy.' Al Gough and Miles Millar on 'Smallville.' And as it happens, these guys are also big Marvel fans. What we will be looking for is that kind of energy for Marvel Television. People who understand and love both mediums."
What's fascinating about this is, it's well documented that Jeph Loeb and Geoff Johns share an office together.

You basically have the two gentleman charged with translating each of the Big Two Superhero IP's into other media, literally in the next room from one another.

I don't think it will make any difference. Disney will dumb down tv adaptations of any character. Has anyone seen the crap they put on tv? Wizards of Waverly Place? Zach & Cody? That's So Raven? Their shows make iCarly look like Masterpiece Theatre by comparison. They also have a Doctor Who Spin-off series in Austrailia based on the robot dog K-9. It's on youtube.

I bet the most you'll get is watered down versions of Power Pack, a Franklin Richards show, and some New Mutants series which has less action than the long gone Mutant-X show. They have to look at shows like Power Rangers and say, ok, this is the bare minimum of acting & action. We have the Marvel catalogue. We have to improve and do better. We have to refine and finesse the superhero tv series so it appeals to the old fans and the new.
