Who else has a No Prize ?

What other lucky Marvel Zombie has a No Prize and how did you get it?

I wrote to Stan Lee when he was in charge of a Q and A on Marvels Bullpen Notes page in the 1990s. I asked about Thors hammer being subject to Magneto. Got printed and I got the No Prize!

Cool. What was the explanation you came up with to explain the continuity glitch you found with Magneto and Thor's hammer?

Is the No Prize literally nothing - just the announcement that you've won one, or do they send you an empty envelope, or is there actually a certificate or something else tangible that says 'No-Prize' on it? I've always wanted to know.

The one's I've seen are literally empty envelopes. Sent to readers who find what are seemingly errors in Marvel Comics, and come up with reasonable explanations so that they are not actually errors.

I got one back in the mid-seventies for catching an error in an issue of Tarzan involving the Mahars in Pellucidar (they had both male & female versions, when in fact the ERB books clearly state there are only females, it's a critical plot point, and I'm rambling...).
Anyway, I got my envelope no-prize with the Hulk on it, still have it in a little frame. But a day or two later, I also got a short letter from writer Bill Mantlo thanking me for pointing out the error and for being a fan, which was really cool. Still have that as well. Sadly, Bill was badly injured in an accident and suffered brain injuries that completely destroyed his life. I believe he is still being cared for in a nursing facility.

I sent in for a No-Prize once . . . spotted an error in an issue of Marvel's Star Trek series and even gave a pretty good ST explanation for it . . . but they never acknowledged it. Maybe it got lost in the mail on the way to them . . .

Here's what they looked like...unfortunately, Jack Kirby did not sign them! They are in fact empty envelopes...hence you won NO-Prize.

Wasn't the Hulk's "real" full name a result of a reader writing in to point out and correct an error?

There was an Avengers or FF comic that refered to the Hulk's alter ego as "Bob" Banner instead of Bruce, so they decided his real name was Robert Bruce Banner (which always was a "Huh?" for me when I read that in the little intro box on the splash page of the Hulk comics in the seventies).

My No prize was late 1990s. It has a Spiderman and the same "Congragulations . . Inside" thing.
I showed the Stan Soapbox with my question in it to the kids and a few parents where I was an Art Teacher. Not too impressed.

Stan said in print it was'nt metal at all. Byrne at the convention said Magneto only affcts Iron and theres no Iron in Uru.

I wanted to know for when we played Marvel Famous Covers at work.

                    Anybody get a letter printed?

I did in the last Byrne issue where he married Banner. I was a Toy Geek then too, sadly they never DID make a Secret Wars Hulk
