I really wanted to like this movie but for several reasons it fell short. I think this guy should have been the 21st Phantom's great grandson instead of his son, making him the 24th instead of 22nd. That way it would have kept in step with the comic strips storyline instead they chose to advance the storyline 40-50 years. They also let viewers see the original costume and revealed that the 21st phantom hated the costume. I guess that gave them ample reason to change it.
I could have accepted the change if the new costume was visually better than the original but it wasn't. I can understand dropping the shorts and maybe adding some armor but the new suit looks like a swat team uniform advanced 40 years imo. What's the point in training if the suit does everything for him already? The movie was not terrible but I didn't like the changes. Oh and the entire TV hypnotism plot device was silly imo.
