I remember really wanting to like this, especially since I really liked Newhart (the 80s sitcom) and of course the comic connection. But I seem to recall the humor being pretty flat.

I may change my mind if I saw it again now.

For me the enjoyment of this is as a comics fan looking back on them poking fun at the ridiculous elements of 90's grim 'n gritty reinvention, Image style artwork, the death of Robin, etc.

Didn't they make a big deal about Mark Silvestri being in an episode set at an awards show? I seem to recall that back then...

I had forgotten about that. I think the sight gag was the Silvestri is really tall standing next to Jim Lee who is really short.

I want to find more episodes other than the pilot.

Marvel did a six issue series of the comic Mad-Dog character that Bob drew around that time.You find it quite often in the quarter boxes.

I had forgotten that Evanier's mentor Kirby had showed up on the program!

I'm assuming "Harlan Stone" was an amalgamation of a number of personalities, but would "Harlan" be a name-homage to Harlan Ellison?
