My guess, outdated views on women sprinkled with a dose of 60s era sexism. There have always been some people that have been threatened (much more so back then) of having a female super hero that strong. Making Wonder Woman frumpy and incompetent takes the edge off. Sort of the same thing in the comics in the 60s when they depowered her. It made her less threatening.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths.
