Ebay. Aside from key issues, sell them as runs.

It was a sad, but liberating process for me.

I'm approaching 11K but during the last year I've been cutting back...I no longer feel the need to "collect 'em all". Space definitely is playing a factor but I also realized I don't need to spend $30+ a week on comics like I was...there's not enough quality out there lately that really satisfies me anymore. I'm sure I'll be dropping more titles along the way.

I've never stopped to count mine, but the shelf in the toyroom closet reserved for them is FULL! If I start collecting a new line like The Partridge Family, I don't know where I'll put them.

Someone who understands my pain! I figure I bought them to read them, and read them I have. Is it my fault that I never sell anything? My wife thinks so but who is she?

Okay, so if I ever want to sleep in the same bed as her again, my wife is the best part of me and maybe I should be willing to give in a little; but C'Mon! Not the books!

I used to keep around 12-15 long boxes. Sold most of them and now keep 4 short boxes. When those start to get too full, I sell them on ebay.

I am finally down to 8 long boxes and that is still too many.
I just gave my son and daughter each a full long box.
I've also really streamlined my monthly collecting as I've reached the same moment of enough is really enough.

Yeah same here about 5000 I've trimmed my collection down donating ones to the boys club of America so the kids could be exposed to comics. Even now I'll trim that down more and only keep runs that mean something to me.....

That is the real trick you have to be able to store them in order to keep them. I probably have about 5000 comics myself and that is after trimiing a few times.

I believe I had only about 500 at one point before I got married, then got rid of most of the few 80s comics I had to buy more 60s VF's, so I'm now down to about 250 I believe.. I gave a lot of reprints away when I tracked down the originals.

started a topic How many comics is enough?

    How many comics is enough?

Yesterday was a clean the house day. My wife suggested I take the time to clean up my collecting room in addition to bringing the rest up from the basement. At first I thought she was kidding; really, send me to my play room for the day while she and the kids clean the rest of the house!

One brisk slap to the face later the realization of her intentions sunk in. She wanted her basement back, which meant I was forced to suffer playing with Megos and comics all day.

Enough is enough already! After an eternity of trips up the stairs resulting in the compelling need for my knee brace, the idea of too much struck me, so I started to count. At best guess I have over 50k issues. There is no feasible way they are all fitting into my 10'x12' collecting room with the Megos. The final count of books compacted in that tiny room with the toys was over 15k, leaving 35k in the basement, much to my wife's dissatisfaction.

So fellow Megoheads and comicbuffs I raise this question: what is the magical number of books that cause you to draw the line and downsize?
