    Backlog of comics

    Hey guys...

In your vast comic collection, do you always read every comic you get right when you get it, or are you like me, and put them away for later, only later never seems to come?

I've bought several comics, that I start to read, and then I get busy and put them away for another time, only to start all over again, and on it goes:

She-Hulk (about 12 of these first version)
A few 70s Marvel comics (my old students have given me)
Gold Key Star Trek, (The separate comics and treasury book)
1 of my Superfriends collection books
    1 DC Comics origins collection
Archies Best Of The 70s, book 2
Archie's Summer Fun (free comic book day)

    Are you guilty of this?
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I purchase my comics twice a month and have them mailed to me. Currently my stockpile is over 40 issues deep of books waiting to be read; some going back nearly 3 months. With six kids, school, and work--I get to them when I have an opportunity; normally in the throne room.

Yeah, I read in spurts as there is no such thing as a single issue anymore, I stockpile a few months and then read them one after the other so I don't have to wait for the continuations.
      It's all good!

Read 'em when I get 'em....Even with 20+ books in one-shot they're usually done within the day

          Hmmmm....

I don't get so many these days; but I start reading them right away. Usagi I read as soon as I get it. The monthly SJ and compilations I'll read as time permits.

I read 'em as I can, although the pile can be reshuffled depending on my mood. Back issues take awhile longer, but most of the new stuff I go through that evening or by the next day. The only stuff I ever save for later is Christmas theme comics, which I collect & save until the holidays.

I buy every two weeks and read when I can.Sometimes right away and sometimes in the office/throne.
Other times if it is a three part or six part I'll wait till I have them all then read them.

Back when I collected regularily, I devoured the new books as soon as I got them home. Now...depends on what I get.

There are a lot of factors that go into answering that question in my case.
New comics: I get them by subscription now so I have to wait 1-2 months between shipments. When I get them I sort and prioritize them depending on story arcs and how many issues are left in each storyline. Then the remaining issues I sort by favorites.
I don't like to read multi-part stories until I have the whole arc.

Back issues: I have a quirk where I try to wait until I complete a whole title (or era of a certain title if it can be broken down into specific eras) before I sit down and read that whole series from the first issue to the last. For example, right now I am just a few issues shy of completing my specific era/run on World's Finest Comics going back to the short-lived "Superman &..." time period up to the final issue of the series. I have several boxes comics that I haven't read yet that I have had for over 20 years.

Now if it's an anthology type title or something that's a self-contained story (especially if it's a title that I'm not collecting the whole run) then I will usually read that right away. Examples: Boris Karloff, Disney, Richie Rich-type, Archies...
                      Rich

I've picked up 1960's/1970's era comics to take out to the lake. Of course once I get out to the cottage there's always too much work to do there, so the comics get put into the "comic drawer".

new stuff generally when it comes out except for miniseries where i might wait for all the issues. old stuff i wait for the complete story if it's a multi issue run and some old serie like Partridge Family or Monkees i 've waited until i got the whole run and now i can start to enjoy them. right after i watch and old episode on tape or dvd to get the voices back for the characters.

While I've been away this year, I've been buying up some nice vintage (and expensive) issues like FF #49 last month, and when they come I typically open them up that evening after work.

When at home.., I usually grab a handful of comics out of my collection, then bring 'em upstairs to re-read at bedtime. If I do get the first- or second-half of a two-parter, I typically have to hunt down the other issue and read 'em together..
