Speaking as a hardcore Spidey fan, here's what matters to me as to who plays Spider-Man:

1) someone who can ACT
2) someone young enough to play a high-schooler or young college student for 3-4 films
3) someone who can be a convincing nerd, yet a smart-a** when in costume

Black, white, Hispanic, Japanese, Chinese - who cares? Spidey'll be in costume through all the good parts anyway (oh, and can we PLEASE do away with the breakaway mask schtick like we got in the previous trilogy? PLEASE? Secret identity, remember?)

Not necessarily true...we saw Spidey take off his mask (or ripped off)...and still saw Tobey Maguire's face in many action scenes...

*Sigh* If your agnostic your claiming no firm belief in even a maker, let alone Jesus. How then are you showing respect? Once again we're talking about what you want to see as relevant versus what I want to see. You believe Peter Parker and Martin can't be spoken in the same breath as if it's morally wrong. I don't hold that fella with the same regard. It's just that simple. Hence my use of Jesus as a "holy" figure. You apparently feel this way about Martin.
