Levitz's Legion off to good start

I loved the Legion from the 1960s and 1970s. Wasn't as big a fan when it switched to a Baxter book in the 80s and have only followed the Legion here an there since Crisis on Infinite Earths.

But I gave the new series a try with the new No. 1, and am glad I did. The art was nice, but Levitz did a fine job with the characterization of Saturn Girl and Brianiac 5 in specific and what Levitz did with the GL ring is bound to shake things up.

Between his Superman/Batman (not World's Finest LOL) and Legion, Levitz went 2 for 2 in my book last week.

I'm unsure if I like the characterization of Braniac as pompous and generally disdainful of humanity. Not sure where that level of disrespect came from. My big exposure to the Legion was the mid 80's, so maybe that was a bad time to learn about them, and maybe Braniac and the others are totally in character.

The artwork was great in areas and average in others. This new kid has got some pencilling chops, so I'll ride this wave for a few issues and see what happens.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I very much enjoyed the ish, but I hope we see more of the OTHER Legions down the line.

Why Not?, we got all of those cool JLA/JSA teamups in the past, why not get a bunch of Alternate Legion team ups in the FUTURE
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Didja ever hear of people that are so smart and intelligent but they lack social skills? Think that of Brainy but upped to 12th-level intelligence and that might help you a bit.

Agreed...his "pin-up" and tryout work looked phenomenal....but the task of laying out and pacing an actual story seems to have showcased some shortcomings.

And I agree with Terry....Levitz is in da house!

I finally gotta chance to read this ...

I thought the 1st Book was Awesome.
I really liked how the book kinda sorta started out, where the Superman and the Legion of Super Heroes Arc / Trade, left off.

EarthMan is my new # 1 Favorite Baddie in the DCU too.

Great stuff, I hope EarthMan gets a Green Lantern Suit.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I really enjoyed the first issue of Legion and like the Superboy/Legion story in Adventure, but some of the art in Adventure ranks as perhaps the worst, most lazy artwork I've every seen in a DC comic.

It's not an issue with the artist's style. I actually like the style of his figures and faces when they are rendered, but in scenes where the characters are in the distance where it looks like a third-grader drew the figure. I don't get it. How does something like that get past an editor. It's sub-standard work, below a level that should be acceptable in a professional publication.

              Levitz + Legion= Gold

I don't think anyone has ever had a better handle on the LSH than Levitz...with the possible exception of early Jim Shooter. Geoff Johns did wonders with Legion of 3 Worlds too.
