    World's Finest 72

If Batman being lost in time and Superman being off Earth for a year or more, has you jonesing for the real thing, then you might want to check out World's Finest 72.

It's just the first issue of an arc, but Paul Levitz nailed the characterizations of Clark, Bruce and Lois right out of the gate.

The first two pages of the book are the best two pages of Superman, I've read in a long time. It hit the sweet spot for me better than Johns' work on the character in Action and Secret Origin and Morrison on All-Star Superman. Admittedly, I didn't enjoy All-Star Superman like many who consider it a definitive run on the character.

Batman is the Batman that I like. Determined, yes. Obsessed, yes. But not crazy.

Great start to what I hope will be a long run on the book.

Oh, and the Jerry Ordwary art is great and the coloring is fantastic.

Is Levitz a new regular writer on WF? And you mean "Superman/Batman", right? Or did the title officially change?

Yeah, It's Superman/Batman 72. I totally unconsciously wrote World's Finest, probably because it reminded me of the good ol days. Man it sucks getting old. Levitz's is at least on it for this arc, an annual and maybe more.

But, seriously, it was an enjoyable read mainly for how Levitz introduced Superman and Batman in the issue. The plot is treading on some ground that Busiek did a few years ago, but it looks like Levitz still has the chops. I was bit worried because his JSA story a few years ago was almost unreadable to me.
