Aquaman And Brightest Day 2 Rant

    Yeah ....,

So they Throw this guy on the Cover of Brightest Day 2 ...., which was a very well drawn Cover, that is really neat given the story line , that Finch Drew..., Probably imo the Best cover, Since Reis drew that Blackest Night Variant cover of the Dead Aquaman ....

... Then as you read the Book,.. They only Give the Aquaman Story 1 Freak'in Page ...., and only I believe 1 Box with him actually Drawn in the Book ???

    What Gives ???
To Be Honest, to me, none of the other stuff in the Book, with the Exception of the Deadman story, I really find all that interesting. ..., and certainly not as Much as the Aquaman Story !

Boo ! and Bah !!! DC ...., Thanks for the Falsified Allure with the Cover.

Isn't It about time to give Give Orange Scale is own book , with this new Direction ???

I agree with you, J....the whole problem with this book right from the get-go is there are like 5 or so plotlines (the Hawks, Aqua, Firestorm, Deadman, J'onn) and none of them are really getting any play. Of course it is only 3 issues in and we've got 26 total right? Aquaman would have benefited from a "Rebirth" type book IMO but Geoff Johns had repeatedly said that wouldn't be the case. So I'm guessing this story in Brightest Day is the best we're gonna get BEFORE he ends up getting launched in his own series again a year from now.

This title is reading very much like 52, which is frustrating because of the tidbits each character gets.

Aquaman and Deadman got more play in the first issue, the second Martian Manhunter and Firestom, I guess Hawkman will be the "star" of No. 3.

Instead of the anthology series that will ultimately dovetail together, I'd rather have a couple of books with split features. Hawkman and Martian Manhunter in one and Aquaman and Firestorm in the other or a different mix. But that way, we'd get a better taste of each character each month.

It worked for Marvel back in the 1960s when their distributor limited the number of titles they could print. It might work today.

        Meh.

Absolutely nothing happened in issue two. The story arcs were not furthered at all, just sort of gave some background. Ol' Aquaman got a whole panel out of this book, and it was a small one. I realize it's hard to cram so many stories in here and still remain within the page limits, but it could have been evened out a little. I trust Johns/Tomasi so I think there is a much bigger picture and a lot of cool stuff coming. This is just starting out real slow, much like Flash Rebirth.

It also doesn't help that this is going to be bi-weekly...alternating with Justice League Lost Generation....gonna make the pay-offs seem that much longer...

There is an interesting parallel going on here which may or may not be significant.

In the first issue, Black Manta, upon learning Aquaman had returned went postal and killed three people in a fish market with a gutting knife.

In the second issue, some mother I can't identify, upon learning of Martian Manhunter's return, went postal and killed her family with a knife and a Guitar Hero guitar.

What's happening here? These are some pretty hacked off people. This could mean absolutely nothing, but I thought it was mildly intriguing.

My guess is the psycho mother is either a white martian or the creature that came from mars before JJ did.
