Well, his successor just got skewered by Deathstroke. Plus keep in mind he's about to enter Firestorm.

I prefer his costume from "Sword of the Atom" so it's not a matter of it being a problem with a redesign, it's just a BAD design.
we have characters that the armor works for. Look at Jaime Reyes. That techno-organic armor thing really works for him.
but this? bleh.
with the exposed hair and loincloth over the jumpsuit aweseomeComment

When Atom was all powered up as an Indigo Lantern in Blackest Night, his costume was a homage to his Sword of the Atom suit....Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Ethan Van Sciver is always talking about Plastic Man as his dream project, not sure how he would handle the costume if he was going to do a more serious take.
I think Alex Ross has a long pants redesign of Plas in one of his books, but I'm not really sure it works.Comment

when are the big 2 gonna learn that fans don't want new costumes for classic heroes. they always end up having to go back to the original lookComment

just read the issue. It IS a special suit. They even mention it in the issue about it BEING just for the purpose of attempting to separate Firestorm.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

He gets away with it because he's such a ridiculous character. I wouldn't accept Reed Richards wearing that, but we're supposed to laugh at Plas, so I give him an easy "pass" in the costume department.
