The first issue seemed fun enough, with Bruce taking on Vandal Savage in caveman times as a Caveman Batman. It certainly helped to have Chris Sprouse doing the art.
Not a big fan of caveman stories so I wasn't really expecting to like the first issue that much to begin with.
The art was nice enough, but nothing special.
Morrison probably sprinkled some things in that will be more meaningful as the story goes on. This probably would be a better read as a collection where you could more easily reference the previous issues or chapters.
With Morrison taking the chance to explore genres as he brings Bruce back, I figure I'll like the issues that play more to my tastes.
I actually like the the last two issues of Batman and Robin better. Who would have thought the Joker would be in on the hunt to find Bruce.
I'm actually looking more forward to the Rip Hunter, Superman, Booster Gold and Green Lantern team-up where they look for Bruce.
I liked the over all Idea of the Book ..., But with such a high profile story, I gotta say, I am somewhat Disapointed that DC Rolled with Sprouse for the Drawer of the Book. I really didn't like His Vision...., and Liked Kurberts Cover so Much better.
When Hal, Superman , Rip and Booster all show up in the Book ..., I felt the content was a bit outta place, because that Group hasn't even assembled yet anywhere else, to Hunt for Bruce, then they said things like "If he makes it back on his Own, he will destroy the world" and " He has no Memory of where and who he is" ...., So shouldn't have all this stuff came out before, ... so we know whats really going on ? ... And then Obviously the 4 all listened to what Tim had to say somewhere's ..., because they talked about the painting in the Cave ..., I somewhat think Tim Shoulda Also been on the Search Party for Bruce, it's what his RedRobin book was even for, at the begining atleast.
I dunno ..., A Typical Morrison at his Finest ...., Telling Half Stories, talking about stuff you have to figure out, and then making the Book somewhat Lack Luster.

... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
For me ..., Just waiting a Yr and a Half for this ...., Then seeing the Talk, seeing the outstanding covers, and wanting this book more than any other book to see the light of day, because I hate Dick as Batman, and hate the whole direction of Batman since ,... I am somewhat Disapointed with the 1st issue,... but have to read it as well.

I get what you're saying about Superman, Booster, Rip and Hal showing up, but I take it more as a tease for that series.
I think the Time Hunters will probably make the connection between that group and Tim. It certainly seems that way from Red Robin 12 and the latest issue of Batman and Robin. If you haven't been reading Batman and Robin, Bruce has been leaving a series of clues to his whereabouts throughout time in and around and under stately Wayne Manor for Dick, Tim and Damian.
And while I didn't find that issue all that great — mainly because I don't find cavemen interesting — I have a feeling Morrison was playing on the confusion the cavemen would have understanding what was going on as well as the confusion Batman would have relating to the primitives. I really think Morrison was attempting to create more questions in the first issue than answer them. The whole point of this series for Morrison is update the crazy Batman stories from the late 40s and 50s that had him having adventures in history through hypnosis and allowing Morrison to play with pulp type genres using Batman. The next issue is evidently a riff on Soloman Kane-type stories.
I doubt the Time Hunters will be a big part of this series, probably just popping in and out with the bulk of their story unfolding in its own series.
I believe the Time Hunters series deals with some anomaly threatening to destroy time, and they are just guessing the answer involves Batman being lost in time.
But from the preview in Flash No. 1 and an article about the Time Hunters series, the first series leads into a second one. That will ultimately lead into DC's big event for next year Flashpoint. Batman being lost in time might be a red herring for the Time Hunters.
Just guessing, though. and I'm mostly wrong with them.
^^^ I just don't Dig "Morrison's constant Riddle Me this Batman" Brand of Story Telling ...., And it's only gotten Worse with each series He Writes.
I missed my Red Robin 12 ...., So No... I didn't read that yet. & I don't do Batman & Robin.
All that read this over here crap, then read this, because without this, you might not understand this, ... Is Annoying. Sure I get involved with Buying them all and doing it with stories that I am into ..., but Once in A While Man...., I'd sure like to just read a book that I want, and just be able to get the story from start to finish there.
BTW ..., a 23 page comicbook that costs 3.99 should never have a full page of "comming soon in the Future" story telling , that hasn't even happened yet. Inreguards to the Rip, Booster, Hal & Superman Scene...., even more so, if it's not going to happen in this series, but happen in another 1. Just my Take.
Morrison's hit and miss with me, too. I was just giving my take on what Morrison and DC was attempting to do with the series. And as I said I may be totally wrong with how involved Time Hunters will be with Return of Batman.
I have no idea of whether this thing will be worth reading or not, but I'm tempted to get the next 5 issues and just save them up and read them at once.
It is frustrating that DC and Marvel seem to be connecting everything they can. I don't like it myself. even if you get all the books, you have to worry about reading them in order and all that.
The bad thing about it is that since it worked with Blackest Night and Siege sales-wise and to greater and lesser degrees storywise, they are going to continue to do it until it fails. Half the Marvel's line is starting something called Shadow Land for this fall. The other half is going to be fighting vampires. Man, vampires are every freaking where.
Siege was as bad or worse. Siege 4 was just the beginning of the end. You had to read Dark Avengers, New Avengers Finale, a Sentry one-shot and probably another to get the full resolution.
The Big Two are going to wear their fans out by doing this. It's a lot easier on the pocket to drop 5 interconnected books than to keep buying them.
