OK, first time I'm watching this (It's on AMC).....I'm enjoying it so far but I gotta say, when Lois fires the blank at Clark and he quickly admits he's Superman?....Novice

Here in CA the first one is still on. This is great! I love these movies! I miss Christopher Reeves.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Yes, this edition may have it's faults, but it is still soooooooooooo much better than the original version.
I was surprised how much I disliked it. I can't recall why...doesn't he turn back time in this one?
Yes but this was the way it was supposed to be......they added that to the first Superman because Donner was under pressure by the Salkinds to finish Superman.

I'm glad is wasn't the way it was supposed to be.
I like the other 1 better.
But Both Still somewhat suck, with the Whole part of Superman being so dang P W ed , giving up his power's , and not knowing what was going on in the world. I don't buy that at all.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
Oh yeah I prefer it instead of the hand in the fire version....
He gives up his identity quick in both fire/bullet versions, eh?
Cause Clark wants to get some Lane tail!
I have a "fan edit".... a "mostly Donner" cut that has
the "hand in fire" version only because
this version refused to add footage that was test shot stuff.
The Lester "Paris" stuff is included as well.
I like it best because it still "feels" like the S2 I grew up with....
but all the silly S3/Lesterish camp-like stuff is removed
and there's a lot more Lex stuff and a lot more Zod/Ursa/Non stuff.
Unfortunately the scene with Ursa killing the kid on the horse isn't in it!
(Was it in the "released "Donner Cut"? I don't think it was.)
Its also....ALL Brando and none Kal's mom.....PLUS, the way its edited
with the Brando stuff, the "green crystal saving the day" stuff makes
Supes getting his powers back all make some kinda sense which doesn't
really happen in the one we grew up with.
Plus, unlike the Donner Cut, "General, care to step outside?" is STILL IN IT!

I have a problem watching Superman 2 the Lester version now because you can see all the patch work done. Plus I thought it was soooo Wrong that Donner didn't get some credit for the parts he filmed regardless of his relationship with the Salkinds.

That ending was NOT in my fan-edit cut (so the "bully beating" scene plays
a lot better, eh?)....
In my fan-edit cut----its the kiss but with a Donner shot ending
scene AFTER the kiss...which is a simillar scene dialogue between
Kent/Lane that was shot by Lester but I think its much better
(and Jimmy's in it too!), thus ending SUPERMAN II better than EITHER cut.

I think because the bullet came from the screen test version where Reeve plays Clark more awkward it comes across that he gives up his secret ID a lot quicker than in the fire version where it looks like he wants to almost give himself a super kick in the butt for being such a bonehead.

Frankly, that was why the Salkinds spent so much extra time AND money
redoing Donner's parts in the first place...by legal standards they could then
credit to the movie to a new director.
Giving any credit to Donner would have totally nullified everything that they spent millions of dollars to correct.
