Alex Ross on "The Phantom"

So, with SyFy pillaging the Phantom, I found it interesting that Alex Ross is also trying to "update" the Phantom, but taking the character and his look in a completely different direction:

Two elements from that design are cool, the tiger stripe loincloth replacing the striped trunks, and the skull face paint. The bloody mess costume will hopefully evolve into a standard Phantom suit.

I've always thought the Phantom's face, straight on, was supposed to look like a skull. And I liked the loincloth too -- I actually thought those both seemed like T-Bolt custom figure touches!

The bloody mess costume will hopefully evolve into a standard Phantom suit.

I was hoping the same thing -- it's what I actually loved about the Billy Zane Phantom costume -- it looked like something that had evolved from some kind of tribal tattoos or body paint. So maybe there's a cool evolution afoot here.

Either way, this look's already got the SyFy Ghost Who Sucks look beat all to heck . . .

Funny that's how I draw the Phantom with that type of skull look......nice painting glad he didn't do shiny armor...
