    Maxwell Lord on Smallville!

As the Black King of Checkmate!

Do you guys think it's any coincidence that he's also resurfaced in the comic books?

Any guesses on the Red Queen? Is that a comic book reference?

    Red Queen:
    John Jones himself maybe?

I see others online have speculated Martha K or Mercy.

I don't think it is a comic character.

Could the Red Queen be Lana Lang? Y'know 'cause she was The Insect Queen in the comics? (and the actress' Street Fighter film completely tanked didn't it?)

Interesting that they introduce the concept of a Red Queen into Checkmate before the White Queen and White King. Any guesses if they bring in the Whites? Sasha Bordeaux and Alan Scott? (or alternatively, perhaps the new Mister Terrific?)

I've never been a fan of Checkmate in any form so this sounds uninteresting to me....

Why are they calling Superman "the Blur"? Thats the worst. Can they make him any less heroic?

But back on topic, the show needs to end. Or do a Zatanna spin off.

On the show, Maxwell Lord and the Red Queen scene at the end reminded me more of when the Hellfire Club first showed up in the X-Men way back in the early 1980s. Lord looked more like Shaw.

              Because you don't like it?

Your world and we're just living on it, I guess?

If you don't like the show, it's easy enough for you not to watch it, but why would you begrudge the folks that do enjoy it from getting to watch it?

The show has been really good this year. No, they can't use the super-suit, he doesn't fly, etc. But within the limitations of the series, the episodes have been very well done. I just hope they don't flub the finale like last year's.

I hadn't even thought about Martha Kent! That would certainly ratchet up the Earth vs Krypton tension in Clark.

I would love to see Martha return in that capacity.

Throw in General Lane, and Lois and Clark would certainly have their hands full

Please forgive me. I did speak out of turn and too harshly. I do have my reasons for disliking the show, but yes, there are those who have reasons to like it. Who am I to begrudge that.

I don't watch it for the record. I haven't since season 5 or 6? I've caught the Wonder Twins one, the Zatanna one, and a few others. I keep trying because I like Superman so much then I get upset when the show doesn't deliver that to my expectations. My problem, not theirs.

Honestly, I was probably too harsh in my comment.

Ah, so this explains why Max Lord was one of the resurrected characters in Brightest Day. Johns said that some of them were being brought back for reasons "in & out of comics".

^ If so, is that kind of snyergy REALLY necessary? Half the stuff on Smallville doesn't jive with the comics already so why do they feel the need to have it the other way around and have the comics reflect the TV universe?

Same reason then I assume for the comic Firestorm mirroring the one recently seen in Brave and the Bold, i.e a Ronnie Raymond/Jason Rausch combo? That one though is an idea I think they should have done right off the bat instead of sending Ronnie off to limbo for a few years.

My question is, is Lex ever coming back? I miss his character.

the people who started the show and made the rule about no Superman suit and no flying are long gone. it's time to put Clark in the suit and have him fly. I mean come on, Zod was able to fly as soon as he got his powers. Everyone is in a costume except Clark, unless you count the Neo suit he wears. I like the show and the story line has been pretty good this season bit with more and more heroes showing up they really need to have Clark catch up.
I liked the idea of introducing a villain like Max Lord but not sure I like the casting choice.
