I have to admit, I don't quite get it. He seems very much a nineties character to me, and in his most recent appearances, I'm not even sure what his motivations are.
I liked him when Jurgens first introduced him. He was essentially Reed Richards gone bad. But he's changed so much over the years, I have to admit, I have no clue why he's a bad guy, or who he's got a mad on for now.
Yeah, he served a purpose as a decoy Superman during the initial storyline, but now DC just seems to insert him wherever they feel like, whether he fits in or not. It's too bad because Superman certainly could benefit from him as an arch-foe (of which Superman doesn't have a lot of good recurring villains), Cyborg-Superman is of the power level & intelligence to be an actual decent threat to Supey, but DC squanders him in pointless guest-shots in Green Lantern events where he really doesn't fit in.
I knew He was comming Back ...
Not sure what everyone else is reading ..., but I haven't scene this Guy since the Sinestro Corps War ..., where he was Blown to bits afterwards.
He was also in the Lastest 2 part Boostergold Arc ..., but that Story was dated in the past too.
I like what Johns did with the character, ... and even more so kinda really adding him to the GL Villian roster.
This story line should be interesting ..., last I read all he wanted was piece.
Shameless plug.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
Well, Cyborg Superman has been a GL villain since he conspired with Mongul to destroy Coast City at the end of Reign of the Supermen. GL teamed with Superman to fight them.
When Coast City went boom, Hal's emotions allowed the Paralax entity to take control of him.
He also kidnapped some GLs and used their power to energize the Manhunter androids that the Guardians created prior to the GL Corps.
So, Henshaw has been tied to the GL Corps since the mid 1990s or whenever it was that DC began to replace Hal with Kyle.
That's why DC continues to use him as a GL villain.
I agree his first appearance as a Reed Richards analogue was a really good story
I thought he was pretty cool when they first introduced him but over the years he has grated on me to the point where I just groan when I see him in a story. Plus it seems like the guy is totally indestructible. Kill him already. At least for 5 years or more.
Rich
I thought he was pretty lame when he was introduced, but I really like his motivation as depicted in the Sinestro Corps. All he wanted to do was die, and they won't kill him. Don't know if that can work long term, but as a villain motivation, it works.
I've always liked his visuals...kudos to Dan Jurgens for a great design. I really don't mind the dude but last I read his motivation was he simply wanted to die but couldn't....not sure if that's still his reasoning for being all badass on the little blue guys and the GLs.
