So is the Green Hornet looking like a hit or total miss?

Here are some set pics... I don't know. Having it shot in the daytime gives it a look of major "cheese" (Pretty much like the Phantom did). I think characters like the Hornet and Phantom should be shot in low light for better effectiveness. Those kinds of outfits are good in a moody atmosphere rather than broad daylight.

I don't hold out much hope for this being any good. It's a shame too, because I've been hoping for a Green Hornet revival since I was a kid.

a good friend of mine had the privilege of getting to see 30 minutes of footage and he says it's actually a nice surprise. at first he thought it would be stupid with seth cast as the green hornet and all, but now he's changing his tune.

Interesting news. What quality in the film has made him feel differently about it?

Seth Rogan was one of the writers too.

I don't think they're going for a slapstick "Land of the Lost" type of thing where they are poking fun at the original subject matter - I think Rogan and Michel Gondry are trying for sincerity and a genuine quality that could make this work.

In my head I'm guessing (hoping) it will be sort of like The Rocketeer.

Then again the whole thing could just as easily be a big pile of poop.

It's too early to say. The photos look a HELLUVA sight better than I thought they ever could. Rogen has really slimmed down for the role, which is a good sign he's sincere about it's success.

But it could be a total farce. The trailer will give us a better indicator.

I liked the Phantom, and even more so, the Rocketeer films. If GH is in that vein, okay by me.

But the Hornet in daytime? Echh...Holy Adam West!

                I'm liking the stills, though...

I gotta give Rogen the benifit of the doubt untill I see this ..., I have liked just about everything the Guy has ever Done ..., and not knowing much about the Green Hornet ...., I dunno if I will be disapointed until I see it.

BBTS just put up a bunch of pre-orders for figures too ..., no pics yet.

Is this set in the present or the sixties?
It looks better than I expected, I'll say that.

                      saw this tidbit on CBR
                      THE GREEN HORNET

That same IESB article also mentions trouble for the film. "We're hearing is the Sony executives are displeased with the results. The tone is too campy, they're not happy with the work from director Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen does not look the part. At all. In fact, the feeling at Sony is the movie is a disaster," writes IESB.

^^ I've read similar things as well....including that the film may go direct to dvd instead of a theatrical release. Not good signs!
