    No Actual GL Costume

This is an interesting development and I think it could be really cool.

Instead of an actual GL costume, AICN is reporting a rumor that Ryan Reynolds is filming his scenes as GL in a motion-capture suit. The GL uniform will be added in post production.

I'll reserve judgment until I see it, but this could be a great way to handle the GL uniform, which is formed by the ring.

Just imagine how GL's constructs could morph from the suit. The Lanterns can have that cool green protective aura or shield. The more I hear about this film, the more I like.

this is a common practice anymore (clones in Star wars especially). In a film whicn will be very CG heavy they would have had to do alot of green screen scenes anyway and since the suit is green this makes sense

Ehhh...I guess it's no different from Iron Man. I don't think Downey Jr. ever wore a full suit did he?

I bet Christian Bale will be campaigning for his in the next Batman movie. I would!!!

It does seem to take a bit away from it though. To have a real suit exist for a live action GL is just...cool.

No sure how I feel about this...so I'll reserve judgment. I'm still betting there will be an actual Costume for "close Up" scenes. There was in Ironman.

Making superhero suits partially CG sounds like a great way to make live action costumes look better in real life. It could also be a disaster, but no more so than the non-CG attempts over the years. The sprayed on looks in the comics don't translate to real life that well. The best examples I can think of are Chris Reeve and Sandy's Batman: Dead End. Though the leather look worked well for the X-men movies, and Spider-Man doesn't look bad, until you realize that Peter was supposed to make that costume himself. I didn't see a bunch of rubber molds and custom action figures in his basement in the movie.

There are plenty of behind the scenes pics of Downey in a full suit of armor.

I think this will work out Great ..., and Possibly No Big Arse Rubber Suit an Actor or Stunt Double can't work in either.

I think they might work alot of that Power Green Crap into the Suit That Schiver & Johns brought since Rebirth.

Should be interesting ..., I am starting to think this Flick Might Actually be pretty Damn Good.

Hmmmm.... it CAN; but I've seen very few big movies that pulled it off. I HAVE seen cosplayers from Japan who have done it, and I can't for the life of me figure out why an amateur at home can do it, but not a big studio.

There's been a big CGI push for a while now too, and I was discussing this on another site as pertaining to what's considered the "right" way of doing things:

Can't wait to see clips. Would love to go to Comic-Con this year. I bet they'll have some footage.

There seems to be an anti CGI push going on, too. Batman was for the most part all real time or whatever nonCGI is called. It really surprised me that they actually built a working tumbler and batcycle. The Hellboy movies were done as much as possible with a guy in a suit for most of the characters.

Pretty sure the industry term is "practical."

Completely forgot to list Hellboy as one of the best visual translations from page to screen.

But they had a really good mix of Digital in with all their practical FX.

It really works for those movies too, since Nolan's approach is to go as realistic as possible and still have a guy in a bat-suit running around. You are never pulled out of those movies by rubbery non-humans.

GL is off the scale fantasy, so in that aspect it doesn't matter.

Still a bit disappointed he won't have an actual suit, but I bet they are going Van Sciver on him too, so I'll reserve judgment. I disliked the Begins and DK suits when first shown, but they worked.

So I assume you mean the hologram effect to the GL's chest emblems and whatnot? I like that phrase BTW...."Going Van Sciver on him".

What's Ryan Reynolds going to wear to conventions when he's an old out of work actor?
