    EC Reprint advice

    Hey

I'm thinking of selling off my 1990s issue by issue collection. There's only a few titles I really want anyway. I was wondering the cheapest Color way they are collected

I liked Weird Science , Weird Fantasy, Weird Sci Fi, Incredible Sci Fi, ( any Sci Fi)

    and whispers * SHOCK!*

Thanks for any clues for wgat Graphic Novels to get!

    Dave!

I personally like the Russ Cochran sets that came out in the late 80's early 90's. They may be in black and white, except for the Mad set, but they are really cleaner than the EC annual reprints in color that they came out with. I know that they are coming out with Hardcovers of the EC stuff again...I think Tales From The Crypt is out with a few others. I think they are in color...but don't know for sure.

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

Just a word of warning, the company publishing the EC Archives is having financial troubles, and the future of the line is up in the air.

but I can't recommend the Archives enough. Get 'em before they're gone, because some of the earlier ones are going through the roof.

it's hard to find Tales from the Crypt Volume 1 for under $100.

I only have ShockSuspenStories volume 1, but I plan on collecting most, if not all of the others.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Great! I like your Avatar. I saw the shirt with the original Logo on it on Graphettis site and I JUST can't afford it.

        One day! :-)

Thanks, my degree is in graphic design, even though I work at a phone company.

so really, my trade is just a hobby for the time being. I'm rather good with fonts, and cranked out that graphic in a few minutes just to make a statement.

it actually is a direct result of reading EC comics, and how they got the shaft by the code.

I picked up the Aforementioned ShockSuspenStories volume as a result of the Amazon Glitch. I plan on mailing it to Al Feldstein for his autograph.

I've heard some prices on the collections at the local comic shop. I think I would PREFER the Black and white . Easier to study the inking . :-)

I'd also recommend the Cochran EC Library B&W hardcovers. They look gorgeous, most of it was shot directly from the original artwork, so everything looks crisp and clean. I already thought highly of the EC artists, but after seeing the artwork reproduced in these books, I developed an even higher apprecation. Plus the books themselves are of very high quality. I'm currently working on putting together a set these myself. Unfortunately they are out of print so some will be tricky to get. A lot of the individual volumes of the horror books can still be found for relatively cheap (Cochran is selling the remaining inventory himself) but some of the other sets are quite expensive and hard to find now.

I just picked up three reprint issues from Cochran (Gladstone) that were printed in 1991. Each of the three is a 64 page, regular full-color comic book.

The first one reprints The Crypt of Terror #18 (1950) and Crime Suspense Stories #16 (1953). It has a publish date of Jan. 1991.
The second one reprints Tales From the Crypt #34 (1952) and Crime Suspense Stories #15 (1952). Published Oct. 1991.
The third reprints Haunt of Fear #18 (1953) and Weird Fantasy #14 (1952). Published November 1991.

I'm not sure how many of these made up the series, but they are out there and I bought them for cover price of $2.00 each. I am currently trying to track down some more.

                  Hmmmm....

The Gladstone ones were nice, but I don't know how many they did.

Throughout the 1990s and into the next decade, almost EC's entire line of comics were reprinted in comic form. The first group of reprints came from Gladstone Publishing in 1990, which reprinted various issues of the three horror comics, the sci-fi comics and Crime SuspenStories in 64-page issues. A total of 18 issues were published. The second group of reprints, known as the "RCP (Russ Cochran Publisher) Reprints" appeared the next year and also reprinted various issues from the horror, sci-fi and crime comics. Starting in 1992, the comics were reprinted in chronological order in a 32-page form. This line eventually reprinted every New Trend and New Direction comic except for Mad, and many Pre-Trend comics as well.

This wiki seems to be a pretty good resource for EC Comics. At least for me, because my interest is pretty recent, but I'm kind of hooked now.

so which were black and white again?

Shock and one of the Science titles with a lot of wood would be my choices.

I have almost all the issue by issue reprints, Never heard about a recent reissue of Crypt 3-D or Moon girl

As much as i would like the convience to have teh stories bound i can't afford it. maybe a book or two for the art. I think wood had the best art, ghastly the least best. But Wood did a lot of SCi Fi which might not do me so good in Black and white I'd like to see more of the Weird Sci 2 cover guy ( white house steps with saucers over head) I need to study realstic illustration.
Hmm picking a hardbound for the art alone NOT the stories. There goes Shock! from the #1 spot.
