Warner Home Vidoe's Live Chat Regarding Dc Super Heroes

Last night was the live chat with Warner Home Video about their DVD plans for TV and animation. Unfortunately, I missed the chat, but I read the transcript earlier this evening and as far as DC Heroes go, here's what I've discovered.

1: Sales of the live action Superboy TV series were not enough to continue with the seasons. But they said, and I quote,"Look for the animated Adventures of Superboy....coming in the future." So for those who like the Filmation Superboy series, you may finally be getting your wish.

2: A question was asked if the original Batman cartoon from 1968 by Filmation would come out as well as seeing the Filmation Superman series finish up on DVD. And thanks were given for the continued releases of the SuperFriends. Warner's reply:

"A new SuperFriends DVD set will be out later this year. If there is more DC Animated content....we'll put it out!"

This translates to me as hope we will see the remaining Batman and Superman toons by Filmation as well as the remaining SuperFriends series eventually get released on DVD.

Now for the bad news. Still no plans for Shazam. I hope the live and animated series of Shazam don't have the same legal problems as the live action Batman TV series. And no plans for the Filmation Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle series. Now that royally sucks!!!

    But that's the news.

    Cheers.

That's a bummer. Those Tarzan shows were some of the best stuff Filmation did.
    It's all good!

It's a shame that Superboy Season 1 made it out, and the superior later seasons won't. Hopefully some other DVD studio like Shout Factory will pick up the rights. The first season is pretty horrible, but my son likes it.

One would think that it would be a no brainer to put all the material out as itunes downloads if they don't think they can do DVDs.

Cut out all the manufacturing, distribution and the retailer's cut, and you've got pure gravy here.

Was it concurrent or after the DVD release?

If it was after, perhaps Warner is still lumbering in what they believe to be "windows" of release cycles? DVD first, then download?

One would think that if they find Superboy unprofitable on DVD, there would be at least a method of maximizing the potential revenue by going straight to download? They certainly wouldn't have all the upfront costs and middlemen getting their cut of the pie.

Well I'll just have to live off my Batman episodes recorded from WPIX from 89 just a bit longer. Shazam I have as a bootleg and really I like those shows but If they never make it to an Official release no biggie. That show doesn't have the same quality as Batman,Wonder Woman or Adventures of Superman.

As for that live action Superboy show, Ho hum that was crap anyway...they should have put the whole thing in one box set and call it a lost.....
