    Something you don't see everyday

I know most are not into original comic book art over here, but I want to show you this page currently on auction on ebay because, most likely, you will never see anything like it again once sold.

Jack Kirby Original - Captain America #6 Timely 1941 - eBay (item 140394301664 end time Apr-04-10 19:20:44 PDT)

You can tell your kids you saw this.

I very much am into original comic art. Currently my collection houses over 50k issues and some nice original art, but nothing like this piece. The sad part is, the seller will likely meet that reserve.

          That is really cool!

I'm only just getting into original art, and already somewhat wary about the $$$ involved as well as storage, preservation etc. Particularly on penciled pieces.

The seller has 2 pages from that issue. It's unheard of that these pages survived. Usually all you see of Golden Age pages are just panels and not full pages. I remember talking to a original art collector that was a good friend of Joe Kubert and he said a lot of times the art back in those days was literally cut up and given away to fans that wrote in. He managed to get a couple of complete pages from Kubert while visiting him at DC at the time. I think he said they were some Shining Knight pages that Kubert had worked on. IMHO these Cap pages have got to rank up there with super rare finds of that time period. I'm really curious to see what this ends up at.

Golden Age art is almost impossible to find, as a lot of it was destroyed.

Golden Age KIRBY art is even more desirable, so for this to come up is nothing short of a miracle.

Timely art in general is very scarce and never comes up on the open market, in comparison there is a lot more golden age DC art out there. There are a few pages from Captain America 6, but this is a peach of a page. Wish i had the dollar this.

It's Cap, it's Bucky, it's Kirby (is it confirmed as Kirby, as he and Simon worked interchangibly back then?), and it has the racial stereotypes which were common of the time. It's a big comic time capsule.

Place your bets....where will this end? IMHO, $60,000. It's comic book history peoples. Anyone else have a range they thing it will end at??

$30K reserve met, a couple of days to go.

Apparently two Kirby experts have said that Jack's input on this page is minimal, so mostly Joe Simon. I personally think the value lies in the fact that it is a great page from Captain America 6, take into account that there are virtually no early Timely Cap art known to exist, makes this an incredible score, if you can afford it.

It's anyones guess where this will end Roberto. It is unchartered territory. I personally think this page would have performed better at Heritage, more prestige and targeted exposure.
Ebay is the wrong place for something like this, too many things could go wrong. You only have to look at the Mego auctions at the moment to know that.
