The Sad Sad Situation with Frank Frazetta

I'm not sure what is exactly going on here and it's obviously told from Frank Jr's side, but let's hope that in the end that whatever the outcome, it will reflect Frank Frazetta's wishes on how his work and legacy will be handled.

Whatever the real story is, this just sounds insane.

Wow, what a mess. I take it Frank Sr. is now mostly incapacitated? Was it a stroke? I seem to recall something about it from that documentary a few years back.

It's unfortunate when siblings fall out over this. Who knows who is right or wrong, but it's just sad how greed can disrupt a family like this.

Anytime a doctor takes over part of an estate, my gold-digging antennae goes up.

Frank had a stroke a few years back that affected his drawing hand, but he taught himself to paint again using his left hand. It was in the aforementioned Fire & Ice documentary.

My understanding was that after his wife died, 1/2 the family spirited him off to Florida, and the other 1/2 was cut out. Soon after, the paintings that had been kept in the Museum started coming up for sale.
Frank Jr. drove the backhoe into the Museum doors and started removing what was left, allegedly under his father's direction.

It made the local news here for a couple days, but I hadn't heard much after that. Here's the news reports if you're interested. Obviously, the reporters are clueless as to who Frank Frazetta was (love the repeated "art heist" like it was an episode of Mission: Impossible):

Looks like both sides are attempting mediation.

Here is hoping that Frazetta will be able to reign in all the vultures circling him and get his museum open once again. I'd definitely try and visit it now that I know about it and how precarious the situation is! How often will you see a Frazetta original?

Frank Frazetta's work pretty much defines an Era, as well as a Literary Genre. Hopefully they can come to some solution. The man should be talked about because of his collected work, not his family's feuding.

I'm saddened & stunnned--I loved the Fire & Ice documentary, I had no idea all this had since happened. How tragic.

Looks like they're trying to straighten it out now amongst themselves. They held a candlelight gathering the other night at the Frazetta Museum, and some of the stuff was taken down from the Ghost of Ellie site. Hopefully Frank still has some control and they can get things worked out. The paintings really deserve to be in the Museum for the public to see. God knows that even after Frank is gone, with coordinated efforts from the entire family, there should be a marketable franchise to benefit everyone in the estate for decades to come. The real shame would be for Frank's work to end up scattered across the globe in private collections.
