This is one liscense that will fall flat on its face for Dynamite, especially if the movie tanks.

I'm guessing Dynamite paid a fortune for this particular license as they seem intent on recouping everything in the first 2 months by releasing 5 series and 42,0000 covers for each issue.

I still fail to see how licensing everything is in any way profitable for long term planning. Maybe back in the Dell or Gold Key days when comics were an extra just like coloring books and colorforms kits...when merchandising dollars weren't the ultimate goal of a property line and were just an added bonus to the original film or tv dollars...after all, back then they were selling a half-million copies of a comic, and even at ten or twelve cents there was money to be made. Now with 70-100 thousand copies total, I can't see how Dynamite expects to maintain their profitability. Which is why they seem intent on convincing the readers that buying multiple covers is a great investment, over producing coherant, well crafted series..at least ones that don't slowly plod on forever (Lone Ranger, I'm calling you out!).

As for the self-owned stuff they do have, like the Superpowers stuff, it isn't all that great- in fact, it just seems like an extended project to trademark costumes & logos designed by Alex Ross. And again, using the endless variant cover routine they've been pushing since way back in the day they ran their own QVC specials. Pre-fab collectibles with little aftermarket value.

Seriously, I know absolutely zero about the upcoming film but I'd hardly expect it to be a blockbuster. Could be wrong, look at Iron Man. But I'm not expecting much.

Kind of reminds me of the serial green hornet but it doesn't motivate me to check this out. I loved what Now did in the 80s but that's about it for me.

Green Hornet ain't no Green Lantern....there's no long term profitability in the franchise
