    Power Girl - dropped!

Well, Power Girl, a book I really liked is going on my drop list. Storyline was so-so, but the Amanda Conner art was the real draw for me.

But now DC announces the new creative team: written by Judd Winnick. Yippee. No idea who the artist is, he's not familar to me.

Do you have any idea how many years it takes to get Winick-stink off of a character? FREAKIN' YEARS. Ask Captain Marvel & Shazam! Ask Green Arrow. Ask the Titans.

    I dropped it after issue 5 or 6 ...
I really like Powergirl ..., the art was Plausable ..., But I pretty much disliked the Story Lines Big Time. The fight with Ultra Humanite was good ..., but everything Else Just Sucked for me.

Powergirl's character was much better represented in Blackest Night JSA 1-3 IMO.

I already dropped it after #4 but came back for that Vartox issue....The stories were ok and although Amanda Conner's art is "cute" I don't feel it was right for Power Girl....Adam Hughes would be the dream artist for this book. But the art is really secondary now what with Winnick coming on board as writer. How does this freakin' guy keep getting work is beyond me....Phooey on you MTV and the Real World for introducing this plague upon society....

I think Adam Hughes is all that it would take to make this a top ten book. Unfortunately issues would come out annually.

I never followed the book, but really like Amanda Connor's artwork in geneeral and she seemed a good fit for the character. Too bad they have to crap it up with Winnick. DC's letting Tony Daniel write Batman again, too. Blehhh

^ Some people, like Daniels, should be just artists....and then some people, like Winnick, shouldn't even be writers

Never read any Powergirl but, how did the Ultra Humanite come back? Last I read way back in JSA, previous series, he got his brain stomped on and squished. I kinda thought that was the end of him.

Hmmm...I like the art and the stories (so far) but I have heard nothing good about this Winnick so I may just have to drop PG. So sad since it took so many decades for her to finally get her own book and now it appears headed for ruin if this guy's past efforts are any indication. Plus why would they change the artist too?

Conner only commited to doing 12 issues, and Palmiotti didn't want to do it without her (they are a married couple).

Wow, all the Winnick hate. I don't mind his superhero stuff, and his creator work, Barry Ween, Boy Genius and the Caper mini are great fun. And his Pedro and Me book is one of the best indy comics I've ever read.
