I'm all for a "guest appearance" like Superman needing something only Batman can give him as the World's Greatest Dectective. It would be cool if they at least acknowledged each other, especially if Superman said "Thanks Bruce". They could just leave it at that and I'd be happy. 5 minutes tops.

Both quotes rule each other out. An alien with super powers doesn't fit in in the realistic Batuniverse Nolan has created

With respect, I understand and abhor that mindset.

Batman is SO realistic that Superman and Batman can't co-exist, now?
It's a sin IMO. I'm afraid to go off on a tangent here...talk about an essay waiting to happen

MARVEL is putting a LOT of investment into that very concept/mindset
          for their upcoming AVENGERS movie.
Right, because the Avengers will be the culmination of what the Marvel movies are working towards. The silver age Marvel U was built on a shared universe continuity from the get go. DC not so much back then, there were a few crossovers like GL/Flash or Doom Patrol/Challs, but nothing like what was done at Marvel in the early days. The Marvel movies are reflecting the same sort of continuity. The Avengers lineup will include most of the characters they have used in the movies of the last few years, just be thankful it won't be the New Avengers lineup. That's all we need is more Wolverine.

            I dunno...just so I don't sound like I wanna spoil the AVENGERS movie...let's
just say I'd love to see an "all-star" Marvel Movie and leave it at that.

They don't have to be integral to the plot...just cameos or whatever doesn't
            spoil the (imaginary) movie.

I'd love to see Tobey's Spidey wisecrackin' Ed's Hulk.

            Throw 'em all in there!

And regardless of that...besides small crossover DC cameos...I'd just love to
see an Even Steven WORDS FINEST team-up....of course BATMAN would
get top billing because he's made more recent box office moolah.

The Hulk will be there in some form, looks like Toby's Spidey will never be seen again.

Hey, I'm all for a team up, like Sandy Collora's World's Finest, but not in Nolan's Batuniverse. He won't do supernatural or super-science characters (Man-Bat, Mr.freeze, Poison Ivy, ...). He already said the next Batman movie won't have Mr.Freeze in it

I understand about Nolan's take on this and I just find it unfortunate
because it boggles my mind to cut certain characters out of the DCU.

Granted, I can admit that Nolan's reasoning has a lot of weight
behind it...I mean he could go on quite a while without
touching some of the more "out there" characters...

but, make no mistake, I'm not gonna just say he hasn't ALREADY
pushed the envelope of reality ...just that I kinda "get" where he's
                  "drawing the line".

Looks like I'm going to have to wait a long, long, long time until I see
                  a Bats/Supes team-up on the big screen.

I agree with Huedell. Is that a sign of the apocalypse? Batman getting thrown into cosmic stuff like he was in Final Crisis is what makes comics fun. Just because it goes against the grain of someone's narrow view of the character doesn't mean it shouldn't and won't happen. The character operates in the same universe as the Green Lantern Corps, Darksied and Detective Chimp, that leaves him wide open to get dragged thru all the wierdness that goes on in the DCU. The same mindset is crying foul over the Punisher right now, this is the first time I've read Punisher since the original Zeck miniseries. Its really refreshing and not more of the same killing gangland thugs for Castle.
