Nice article on Nolan's Superman & next Batman film

The LA Times' blog confirmed reports/rumors that Christopher Nolan will shepherd the latest Superman film with another un-named director attached.

Goyer is doing the script. Also confirms the third Batman movie by him.

Not a lot of details, but a firm confirmations from the director.

I think we can trust Nolan to do Superman right, and not just "dark". He was the first director to take the Batman source material seriously, and treat it with respect, so I can't imagine he wouldn't do the same for Superman.

      This is a GOOD thing.

I agree with both of you guys. Nolan is a fantastic storyteller, whether he's dealing in dark subjects or not. Goyer is writing the script and with Jeff Johns now working as a go-between with Warner and DC, I think it's an excellent team to bring the Man of Steel back to the screen, perhaps better than ever.

Sounds like Nolan will have to approve the actual director?

              Sounds like it'll work...

I'm pretty neutral on the Nolan Bat-films
but can't deny their success over any other super-movies

--and, really, Bats is a one step away from Supes---
and if we ever want to see Bats and Supes onscreen together
for the first time in a major motion piicture....this is a fine way to go.

I trust Nolan to do these justice

In an article in superherohype, Nolan says that Superman will be contained in his own universe, meaning no DC movie cross overs

Hmmmmm....I'll take that with a grain of salt...I mean, first of all,
does that simply mean just the first movie...or the whole series from
                    the reboot on...
I dunno...even if he said it'll "NEVER happen" there are just too many years
to be considered (for a "backtrack" to actually happen) to take
that kind of info as "set in stone" IMO.

And why not? Batman is in his own universe as well, superheroes like this don't need other heroes showing up

They may not "need it" but a lot of ticket buyers think that's a "cool" idea---
MARVEL is putting a LOT of investment into that very concept/mindset
                        for their upcoming AVENGERS movie.

That wasn't quite what I was getting at with my post...what I was
getting at was a movie that "invaded" the "world of BATMAN" as much
as the upcoming AVENGERS movie will invade any of the
IRON MAN/HULK/CAP/THOR movies....i.e. not really at all save
                            (MAYBE) a couple minutes.

The total geek in me would love to see Christian Bale cameo in a Superman movie, but Nolan and company have done a great job of setting up their Bat-verse as a world that is as realistic as possible for one with a guy in a bat suit to be in, so I can see the hesitation in mixing the two.
