wow ... this Info Didn't take Long to get out there. So Much for Top Secret.
Sinestro became White Lantern at the end of the Blackest Night issue that came out yesterday.
Which I guess explains why Saint Walker was so insistent that Sinestro was important to the prophecy or whatever.
It appears that Geoff Johns is making Sinestro as complex a character as Black Adam. Which is only natural I guess, since both characters started off as "Heros" before becoming "Villains".
Sinestro is one of my favorite characters. I have held off on getting into the Blackest night books because I can't stand waiting for the next issue to be released and it has crossed many different titles. I follow it online and will grab the compilations when the storyline completes. I only hope Mattel produces some of the GL Corp in 8" scale. Would love to see some of the alien GL's as well as Abin Sur, Guy in leather jacket, Tomar-Re, Kilowog on a Hulk style body would rule, and Jade would too as a female addition. So many solid possibilities and with the different "Lanterns" returning from the dead, the assortment could be endless. With the popularity of this storyline I could see Sinestro becoming a love/hate villain like Lex Luthor. With the GL movie coming it makes sense they would focus attention away from Batman and Superman and toward GL. Timing for all this just seems right.
^^^ I don't think Any of those would ever be made in the 8inch scale,.. Unless the line goes past 30 figures.
Maybe as exclusive variants (SDCC or Matty)? A GL is a pretty easy headswap for Abin Sur for example, or if we wanted to go "retro" with Guy or John given the fact that they were wearing the generic uniform in their 1st appearances.
I'd even take Abin Sur if they repainted Luthor's head and popped it on a red body with the GL Uniform.
From about the second issue or so I thought maybe this was a tale of Sinestro's redemption. Based on his portrayal in Secret Origin, it was obvious Johns saw him as an honorable officer. I also thought there would eventually be a white lantern, however I didn't think it would be Sinestro.
This is cool on many levels. It would be neat to see Sinestro turn things around casuse it was pretty obvious he was one bad-a.s.s. as a GL. I'm hoping this happens. He would be a cool looking character and adds a new dynamic to the DCU.
I remember back in the first issue there was a foreshadowing panel of Sinestro telling Hal "I can't so this without you, Jordan." I'm guessing that is coming next issue.
I know some here think this is a goofy storyline and call it "Skittle War", but I think this is the best crossover I've read since the first Crisis.
Scott
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
Sinestro has Straight up Killed being's in Cold Blood.
I find it a little hard to believe the Dude's gonna be some Sorta Saint as a White Lantern...., But perhaps who Know's ..., there is his Interaction with his Daughter Natu, and Emotional Ties that still Lie with his Wife And Abin Sur, that More so Define the character , rather than Just a kill here or there, that you saw.
I like that fact that the character has come to new hights in the DCU ..., they finally kinda put More so Personality in him in the last 6 yrs..., that really wasn't as present as before. ... He was just a fallen Lantern,.. that was Hell bent on destroying Jordan,.. and then the Super Friends really didn't help much,.. and whenever he showed up with other Villian Teams,.. He was just supporting cast.
I thought the Episode of The Batman, where he showed up Was Fantastic.
Blackest Night is the Best Damn Cross over ever. Period.
