    >Is Sabrina the Teenage Witch part of the Archie-Verse?

Usually. The Archie comics all sort-of occur in the same setting; but characters fade in and out as neccessary. Kinda like the Punisher did.

    >Just what Archie doesn't need,more gimmicks.

Yeah. They've used gimmicks before, but usually with limited press. I'm wondering if the new tendencies are 'cos their sales are so high, and it makes them much more prominent in the N. American comic industry. So they're falling into the same rut Marvel and DC did years ago. But in an Archie sort of way....

    >I'm just wondering what happened to Cheryl Blossom?

Cheryl? Whatever happened to Pepper? She hasn't been seen in comics for 30 years. Same with Betty's older sister.

Bingo. I believe Archie got themselves a new agent last year in the form of CAA. With it comes new PR. Thus all these newsbites that hopefully garner enough attention to spur the TV and movie franchises, which is where the real $$$ is these days.

I'm guessing this one has more to do with getting Josie and the Pussycats back into the spotlight as well as the Archies to try and ride that High School Musical/Glee bandwagon.

How well did the last Josie movie do at the box office and DVD?

I wasn't aware of that but it still smacks of "controversy" sales like the lesbian Batwoman and gimmicks along that line that get those little newsbits on the newscasts and websites/blogs.

That's not a bad idea considering both Josie and the Archies have a musical connection.
The Josie movie wasn't terrible but it wasn't all that great either.
I vote for a Josie in Outer Space movie. LOL \

I'd actually watch a live-action tv series featuring all the Archie-verse characters if it was done right. It could be based around the idea of The Archies musical aspirations (as long as they don't sing rap )

If this doesn't garner enough attention, Archie's going after Cherry next.

'cause y'know, Jenna Jameson is all mainstream now too. Maybe Archie can hook up with Shadowhunter.

I believe Greg Horn uses his girlfriend/now-wife as a model quite often, which is why most of his women seem to look the same.

Actually, I saw this in the Previews catalog and had to search it out on the Archie site. I don't think they really promoted it, unless that is to come closer to the release date (in mid-April I think). I just thought it was interesting to see a bit more crossover of the Pussycats with Archie, something that happens occasionally but not often. The Pussycats didn't live in Riverdale, but the next town over - they definitely went to a different high school. Valerie actually is the best choice of the three, since Melody is not a serious relationship kinda girl, and Archie & Josie getting together could lead to a band of Opie kids.

My understanding is Archie is trying to market Josie as a tv series like they did with Sabrina, and there will be a big push to feature the characters again in the books. I'd be very happy to see them start an ongoing once more, instead of sporadic appearances in the digests. So long as it isn't that manga version- ugh!

Whatever did happened to Pepper? And what about Albert & Sock...nobody ever missed them. Not even a picture on a milk carton. They just disappeared...

There actually was a short lived Archies live-action TV show on ABC in the late 70s. (sorry couldn't find a YouTube bit on it)

That's funny. I thought of the same thing. The only thing that I remember from it was that it was kind of like the Happy Days kids at Al's.
                                It's all good!
