Looking for Comic Book/Compilation suggestions for the Retro Figures

I'd like to reinvigorate my nephew's interest in both Superheroes and Mego scale action figures. His father is a Sci-Fi/Star Wars nut, but I've been sending him all sorts of figures for a few years. He's 8 1/2, and we had a Superman movie marathon (1, and 2, which he never saw, and then Returns) when he visited in August. I felt my job was complete when he left and he correctly answered that Superman would be Darth Vader in a fight. I also had comic books for him to read every night and he stayed up absorbed in them and re-read most of them.

So I was hoping to send him a Superman / Lex Luthor book, and a Green Lantern / Sinestro book, specifically in the outfits that Mattel is using, so he can read the stories and have the figures there to play with at the same time.

I'd prefer something I can order online opposed to getting vintage comics, but whatever suggestions people have are appreciated.

I may just do that, but I really want him to see the interactions directly between the Hero and Villian to get a better perspective, and share the comics of my youth. I collected the Spiderman reprints that the newspapers put out a couple of years ago and he really loved them.

Short of the Showcase books, I'm not sure about GL and Sinestro, but the Batman in the Seventies(and sixties) titles, and the Superman in the seventies (and sixties) books have some great stories that he should enjoy. The Crisis on Multiple Earth's series of collected volumes also features all these characters (and then some!), as it showcases the classic JLU/JSA team ups from the sixties to the eighties. All great stuff!!

Also the Chronicle books for both characters. Sinestro's classic non modern continuity appearances have already been reprinted there in color.

Both of these are Trade Paperbacks of the Superfriends comics from the 70's:

Super Friends!: Your Favorite Television Super-Team is Back! (Paperback)

Super Friends!: Truth, Justice and Peace! (Super Friends!, 2) (Paperback)

Here's a link to the different TPBs of The Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told:

I have the Batman and Joker ones and they are awesome. I've had them since about 88 or 89 and after many years of reading they have held up really nicely.

Here's a link to the Showcase Presents TPBs for some Silver Age Green Lantern:

Another set of rockin' trade paperbacks. Hope this helps! I loves me some TPBs!
