    Captain America 90's Cartoon promo...

Was going through some of my slides I got off of ebay a few years back and found my slides from the Cap Cartoon series that was proposed by Saban/Marvel Entertainment. Did some research and found a promo clip of the show on You Tube. Never saw it until today...Music sucks but it looks like it would have been a cool cartoon:

I think I would have really enjoyed that. Too bad it never made it to production.

Looks ok, I see a few things in there that make it look like it might have ended up being a GIJoe RAH rip off.

Eh.....Saban was a cartoon stink machine in the 90's....most of the stuff they did is unwatchable now unlike the 60's Spiderman and HB Fantastic Four. I'm sure this would have some corn nuggets in it......but interesting to see none the less.

It looked like it had serious potential. I seem to remember it was scrapped due to the use of real machine guns, and dancing around saying the word "Nazi".

Out of all the cartoons Saban did for Marvel the 2 that I really enjoyed were Silver Surfer and Hulk. Unfortunately I only have season 1 of the Hulk because Liberation Entertainment in the UK only put out season 1 before either going belly up or just decided Superhero cartoons wasn't where they could make any money. I'm hoping that Clearvision in the UK will end up putting out season 2. Silver Surfer, IMHO, was fantastic. Sort of a Moebius meets Kirby styling to it. The CGI stuff was OK. It's a shame they never finished the last 2 parter with Thanos.

Getting back to Cap...This could have been a show that they could have sold to Cartoon Network if Cartoon Network was doing stuff like the adult swim back then in '97. There would have been no controversy...the excuse or explanation could have been "It's on Adult Swim" and that would have been the end of it. Could have been a real gritty show...but we'll never know.

Intresting. Looks like it could have fit in in the 80's or 90's.

wasn't it rumored that Toy Biz was supposed to come out with a Captain America toy line around the same time as this?

There was a Cap and Bucky 2 pack that came out at the time I think. Toys R Us exclusive if I remember correctly. Maybe it was a tie in with the show.

I love WWII era Cap, and even though the Marvel toons at the time were kind duds, I would have watched this good or bad. I even like the music....sorta.
