How would you reboot the DC Universe?

( I can already see Samurainoir doing the same post Marvel style!)

I would have fewer heroes. Less technology outside the hands of Mad scientists, less casual relations with Alien Civilizations and Time travellers.

There would be the bare neccessaties. Superman, Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow,

    Alien ,
    Atheletes,
    Mythical figure,
    Science accident,
    trained guy

Bruce Wayne would offically adopt Dick Grayson. Supes would date Wonder Woman . Commissoner Gordon would shoot the Joker Dead in the line of duty after what he did to Barbara. Dead people would stay Dead. Batman would be less grim and more realstic. Luthor would still be president. The Justice Society would still have existed but without SUperman or Batman. There would have been a previous flash. The other Golden age guys would have not been superpowered with magic or alien abilities.

Yeah sounding a lot like watchmen I know.

Maybe make it a "Ultimates parallel type thing"

Not so Dark though. GA and Flash are obnoxious enough as is.

Given my personal tastes, I'd really have DC dig into the weird and strange aspects of the universe more. So much emphasis has been on Superheroes, but there are such wonderful Monsters and oddities like Brother Power, Talky Tawny, Detective Chimp, Klarion the Witch Boy, Frankenstein, Mr Nobody, The Creeper, all those Demons running around other than Etrigan (I AM BAYTOR!). They shouldn't be just segregated over to Vertigo. The original pre-Vertigo appeal of titles like Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Sandman and even Shade the Changing Man was the fact that they explored nooks and crannies of the DCU that the Justice League ignores.

More humour as well. Plastic Man. Ambush Bug. Even Lobo brings a lightness to the DCU whenever he appeas given that he's such a parody of himself. Brave and Bold has proven that situational humour can be great even when you play Batman completely straight (and JLI was doing it quite well too). Giffen and Dematties' Metal Men has been wonderful.

Because the Silver age stuff is what the current continuity is built upon, so no need to go back the the get go.

Why don't you replace DC With Marvel in the Title of this Thread.

There's been too many reboots. They always find a way to screw things up. Leave it be for now.

Not a bad idea! But you'd need to add Earth-X too

Reset it to right before the Crisis. Essentially, everything that was great about DC was in place by then. If you did that, you'd have the Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans again, Superman wouldn't be married (which is a problem for many), Babs would still be Batgirl, etc. About the only major character that anyone would really miss would be Tim Drake, and you could quickly retire Jason Todd and have Tim take over.

I know I may be biased, but DC was really at it's zenith at the time. The stories were mature enough for older readers, but still suitable for kids. The characters were still recognizable as their Silver Age versions but updated enough to appeal to today's audiences. There's a reason the Jose Luis Garcia Lopez style guide artwork from the time is still in use.

I'd go back to about 1986. Then I'd forget all the Crisis's after the first one.

Pick up right after Crisis but find a way to save Supergirl and Barry Allen and bring Ma & Pa Kent back.
Plus a new Superboy title starring young Clark Kent!

I'd still rather reboot it further back, give the Challs a comic again and unkill the Doom Patrol.
