I could buy that. The guy has a lot of charisma and screen pressence, as well as good acting chops. His was the hardest role to pull off in Trek (to me even more so than Spock) and he did it.
He was rumored to be in the running for GL too right? He may be the new go-to-guy for super heroes.
I read somewhere that director, Joe Johnston said last week on the Wolfman junket that they are looking at unknowns for the part. It mentioned Jensen Ackles of SuperNatural and Chad Michael Muarry of some other CW or Fox show.
But Pine would be fine with me. I'd still pick Howie Long if he were younger and could act. He wears the flat top well and would be imposing the the Cap Uniform.
Wow...Pine might be Captain America...and Chris Hemsworth...the actor who played his father in Star Trek (and who's actually younger than Pine)...is going to be Thor.

Yeah...I would have love to have seen Chris Helmsworth as Captain America, if he wasn't playing Thor. He certainly has that "all America Boy look"...for a Guy from New Zealand.
Jensen Ackles would be okay too. But Pine could pull it off. I think he's just peaking now, so he's not unknown, but he's still new enough that you don't get a lot of baggage with him taking the role. A lot like Christian Bale taking the Batman role.
And Pine and Downey Jr. would work well together too I think. Those two and Ed Norton would make good Avengers. The only weird bit would be Thor played Pine's dad!!!
