    Third GL title

Green Lantern: Emerald Warrior starring Guy Gardner with Kilowog at times by Pete Tomasi was announced today.

Tony Bedard, of Rebels fame, is taking over GL Corps which will star John Stewart, Kyle and Ganthet.

That means GL will have as many titles as Superman, if you don't count Supergirl. Pretty cool if they don't run out of ideas.

OK....I think we're crossing the line from very very good (the current GL titles and the whole Blackest Night stroyline) to overkill with this new title. I suppose they're trying to build and push the franchise in time for the upcoming film.

Yeah he will, but I probably love the GLs as much or more than he does or at least longer, the whippersnapper.

If they can keep the ideas flowing and the execution at the current level, then great, but like you I believe they may be pushing it.

At some point, people will have to make choices on which GL title or which 2 they want to read, and that could hurt all 3 titles. I'd rather have 1 or even 2 strong GL titles than for the thing to turn into the X-Men or even Batman

The GL book will be fine as long as Johns is spearheading it, but at some point he's going to want to move on and that will be a huge hit to the franchise.

As much as Guy Gardner is one of my favourite characters, I never really think he works that well in solo adventures. I had high expectations for the Howard Chaykin prestige mini, and even that was only okay.

Guy's a character best served when colliding with other teammates. He's a classic "spoiler" character, which in recent years has been neutered a bit as he "evolves" into more of a leadership role. The recent Red Lantern possession was a nice throw-back. I kind of miss the loose cannon, unpredictable Guy. I always thought that Kyle and Guy should be more of a "Nice Cop"/"Crazy Cop" dynamic and push that. The Sensitive Artistic Soul vs Pre-emptive Militant is a really great contrast to test friendship and philosophies in peace-keeping methodology

Think about all those memorable moments in JLI, or the Green Lantern Corps arc where Kilowog defects to the Soviets and Guy invades. Even the earliest issues of Gerard Jones' GL series that had Guy bouncing off of Hal really brought out the distinctions of both characters.

I think Guy as he appears in the Brave and the Bold cartoon is the perfect balance between well intentioned hero and hard headed goon. Particularly paired with G'nort.

I think you hit on the head Samurainoir. I really think Kyle or John would have been stronger choices for a third GL book than Guy. However, Tomasi might have some really good take on him that will lift him out of the supporting or adversarial role that he has best filled since Englehart brought him out of limbo in the late 1980s.

But I really don't see it.

From DC's solicits, it seems like Hal is going to have to share his book with Artocitus, Sinestro, Lar Fleez, Indigo Girl and Carol.

While I enjoy Hal functioning with a team, I'd like to see him in some solo adventures. Other than the Secret Origins issues ever since the Sinestro War started it seems like he's just been a cog in his book rather than the primary character. Maybe that's the secret to the book's success. Not complaining about the stories. They've all been good, but I would like to see Hal functioning more on Earth with the supporting characters developed in the first 20 to 25 issues.

              Agreed...plus I don't like Guy Gardner.

John Stewart is definitely and underserved character in recent years. Particularly since it's been shown how great a character he can be when handled properly on the Justice League Unlimited TV show.

He's supposed to be Hal's partner, but really hasn't had a huge presence in the central GL book. Which I believe they are missing the important opportunities between these two given how much more grounded John is than Hal. He should always be there to keep Hal from getting too full of himself, give him a more analytical perspective.

Kind of like the way the two main characters in The Human Target (the ones not played by Rorschach) interact with each other.

John knows all too well the fine line between Fearless and Reckless, at the cost of an entire planet.

I'd be surprised to see it last long...remember, DC tried in the 90s to establish a GL family of books, with GL, Guy Gardner, GL Quarterly, & Mosaic. It was overkill then, and it's no different now. Of all the GLs, only Hal & Kyle prove capable of carrying an ongoing. Guy they monkeyed around with, from Rogue GL, to JLI comedy, to the yellow ring, to finally the abominable Warrior crapola. Guy & John work best in team situations, I feel. Guy in particular tends to slide into becoming a parody of itself.

I think this was the low point for Guy. It's one thing when the humour is situational... "ONE PUNCH!", another when they descend into out and out farce.

                    Clown Guardians?!

I loved Mosaic because it was a wonderful failed experiment. Kudos to them for trying it, but at the end of the day it was better that they fell on their face spectacularly than ending up with something as mediocre as Guy Gardner's solo series. There were some truly great moments in Mosaic amidst the extremes of wild absurd Dr Suess aliens and haunting explorations of John's very sanity.

I feel the same way about many of DC's crazier titles like Brother Power the Geek. From that kind of experimentation, you do get something that oddly gels in a compelling way, like Morrison's Doom Patrol or Gaiman's Sandman.

I felt there was just far too much going on in Corps ,.. before everything Blackest Night ..., that it Either needed another book, or Double Stuffed.

A little Disapoint of the Seperation of Rayner from Gardner though ..., they Had Some Neat Chemistry ..., Like a Good Guy version of Vincent and Jules ..., Where as Lawson and Blake were the Bad versions .... I got the same Enjoyment from reading them ...

                      The Bat books Suck
                      The Superman Books Suck

Besides for me, Supergirl,.. ( When She's not in a Flipp'in Superman Mega Cross over twice or more a yr) and Red Robin ... I also get Superman Secret Origins ..., but that's got 2 issues left...

I gotta Buy something ... Alot of my books rapped up ... or are going to,.. most were Mini's ..., and I am pretty much I think Gonna Drop everything Marvel ... but 4 Books ...

Face the Facts Folks ... The Time is Green Lantern. His Sales are off the Charts... 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th , 7th and 8th Printing's of Books. Cartoon, Toys, Movies, Merchandise..., He IS the Next Big House Hold Named Hero ...., Probably the 1st One in a Bit ..., Since Wolverine..., But I do think that IronMan got some Steam with that Movie.

I didn't realize John was heading over to GLC...

Good to know he has a place here once he disappears from the pages of Justice League.

John and Kyle should be kept busy keeping Ganthet in check!

John Stewart has to be the most boring GL ever. IMO How come they never kill off Characters like him? I guess because it wouldn't have much impact...and nobody would care.

How long do you guys think the core Green Lantern book will be home to the New Guardians before they spin that off into it's own series?

And would anyone have ever thought that there would be a fanbase eager to read the adventures of another group called The New Guardians after the trainwreck of the last one?
