I didn't say that at all. I said it wouldn't be the first time they took a real world group and made them a cover for an evil organization. In keeping with the rules of this board, I'm refraining from any political commentary. The fact is comic writers often use timely subject matter and throw in more fantastical stuff.
Unfortunately, white supremacist groups are real, but I doubt they have any specific connection to folks concerned with over-taxation. Which is why Marvel is apologizing. Well, its the reason other than free publicity.

Very well said!
BTW, others have alluded to the "no such thing as bad publicity" cliche. Ask Toyota about bad publicity. There is bad pub and it leaves a stick that a Brady Bunch bath in tomato juice won't remove. Now, I don't believe that Marvel will suffer from this incident. However, comments from creators like Bru and Waid (who chimed in on his twitter page) have made me reconsider who I will support.Comment

>Ask Toyota about bad publicity.
But they're not in the entertainment industry. You can make a good career of cheesing people off; ask Don Rickles. Like Carlin said; it's all about "dig me!" even if it's for bad reasons. People will pick up the book (or at least look through it) to see what the hullabaloo is.
>Everyone is just too frickin' oversensitive.
Too true! Especially since complaining prolongs the attention.

I'm wondering just what the Disney folk think of the "no bad publicity" angle? Maybe we won't be seeing Joey Q on CNN too much...not that there's anything wrong with that.
And has Stephen Colbert chimed in on this issue yet?
I'm of the opinion this new "Return to the Heroic Age" stuff that is allegedly "7 years in the making" is not in reality a new corporate directive saying hey, let's get our heroes & villains back where they belong before we get started merchandising the theme parks.Comment

When really they're really just american's standing up for the Constitution & our civil liberties. Taxpayers that are sick of the Government using our Money to bail out Big Banks and Corporations.
I just don't want to see the liberal media portray Tea Party protesters as radical militia Groups.
