Brightest Day dawns on King of Seas

Aquaman's coming back. Cool David Finch cover for Brightest Day No. 2. he's got both hands, sans a beard and in orange and green. Tomasi and Johns are writing the book.

Not too big of a surprise, but certainly a welcome one to me.

    Info's at DC's blog, newsarama.com and comicbookresources.com

If Dc and Marvel would quit killing off its top players, they could stop coming up with these contrived events to bring them back.

I don't think they have named the artists yet. The book is coming out every other week. I think they are going to have rotating teams. As long as it's not Ethan Van Sciver. Love his art. Hate the wait.

I imagine Rob from the Aquaman Shrine has exploded into tiny orange and green pieces by now...

Yeah, Rob has been campaigning for this for a long time.

If they get Arthur back, they've got Hal and Barry, bring back J'onn, bring back Bruce (he's apparently on his way), get Superman off of New Krypton, straighten Diana out (whatever is going on with her) and put the band back together, for reals!

It's been almost 20 years since we had the classic Aquaman. I missed the guy!

I wonder if he'll have any memory of what the Blackest Night Aqauman did? Or any of the heroes that "return"?

                      That's really cool.

Now, is this a sign DC is going to stop being so emo and dark and going back to a more traditionally heroic style? Or is is that just wishful thinking?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I just crapped my pants and got the biggest woody all at the same time! I'm SUPER-PSYCHED for this and I REALLY REALLY hope this does well. Besides Superman and Batman, Aquaman has always been my favorite DC hero and I think he's been mishandled for a long time (20 years Chris says!). Geoff Johns has always been my number one choice and I hope he sticks around for a while to get things rolling. Stuff always gets messed up after he leaves a book....

Yeah, I'd buy a classic Aquaman book, handled decently without all that undersea angst & rage that both Arthur & Namor suffer from.

Biggest laugh I got out of this was this Dan Didio quote:

"There's always been an Aquaman series that seems to have strayed from place to place or change directions on occasion. What we would like to do if we brought back Aquaman, is give him the same treatment we gave Hawkman, which is to give him a very clear, concise direction that felt true to the character and his past history that also presented him with a fine interpretation to be built upon."

Yeah, you really did a good job of not mucking around with the Hawks, right Danny-boy?

Like everything else, Hawkman was golden again until Johns left the book......

Arthur Curry in the orange and green, cleanshaven, with (we hope) both hands. Y'all better buy this book by the tonnage and hand them out on the streets to insure it's success, otherwise there is no justification to complain when they turn him into his brother's cousin's enigmatic doppleganger from the future with a robotic peg-leg, dredlock beard, sentient seashell armour and dark 'n gritty forbidden Tusky the Walrus love.
